Installed electric fans and now have a ?

I installed twin 12" electric fans today with a 185 degree thermostat. It's supposed to kick on at 185 and kick the fans off at 165. Well I let the car idle for 15 minutes, then drove the car, then let it idle for like 5 more minutes. The temp gauge didn't go above the 3rd bar and the fans never turned on. Is the car just not getting up to 185 or did I wire the fans up wrong(and my temp gauge is off)? With the clutch fan the car ran at about the same temp, according to the gauge, as it is now.

well according to the gauge the car didnt get hot enough i guess...lol

Well I just found out I didn't wire them right, not a big surprise there. So I have to check the wiring tomorrow or just throw in a relay with a switch.

Quote »just throw in a relay with a switch.[/quote]I tried the trick install and my fan didn't cut on because of a short and I didn't know it because I assumed my engine wasn't running hot enough. So I scrapped all the thermostats and sh1t and just ran a toggle switch in the cabin and turn it on when I get in the car and cut it off when I get out.

If I am on a stretch of highway and doing 80mph I will cut them off but most times I just let it run all the time (twin 12"s)
