Hey everyone.
I installed a cheap backup camera on my 08 Rogue. I tapped into the solid Green wire of the diver side reverse light for power (passenger side is Green with gray dots). I am also using a wireless transmitter to send the video signal to the front. This was to prevent having to run wires through the car. Hindsight: It would have taken the same amount of time to run the wires to the front.

Part listing (all from amazon):
$11 Camera - HDE E336 Waterproof Rear Vehicle Backup Camera With 170 degree Viewing Angle
$15 Wireless Transmitter - 2.4g Wireless Color Video Transmitter and Receiver for the Vehicle Backup Camera/front Car Camera
$22 4.3" Monitor - Sunnvalleytek 4.3 inch TFT LCD Digital Car Rear View Monitor with 360 swivel stand

I am now at the point where I need to install the monitor. Directions say to connect to the same power source (driver side reverse light). Is the green wire that is running along the side floor board the same green wire that is in the rear? I see a lot of green wires under the dash (near the peddles). What is the best way to test the wires without cutting the wire insulation to hook up to a meter?

Thanks guys.
Jim

just go to the cigarette lighter plug, or use the fuse box.

I think you misunderstood. I'm currently using an accessory from the fuse box. It's causeing the unit to flash on and off. It needs to use the same power source as the camera (the reverse light). I'm looking for the reverse light wire in the cabin area of the vehicle.

Test that green wire with the meter by connecting it throw the needle. This way you won't have to cut it/clean it if it's a wrong one. As for flickering like not having enough power...you can always connect it throw relay to the battery.

Thanks Leo2005. I'll give the needle a try.
