I have a B&m. The rattling you are hearing is normal. Go to the B&m website; they explain it in full. Basically they say you are hearing the natural harmonics of your transmission when accelerating/decelerating. At first I was annoyed but now i kind of like it .

This is not necessarily true. A lot of the B&M shifters did not come with a little plastic collar around the ball that inserts into the transmission. IF you did not take the plastic collar from the old shift tower off and transfer it onto the new B&M unit it will cause this rattle.

I have installed 5 B&M and only 1 came with a collar. NONE of them have the rattle or any noise at any RPM in any gear. I also recommend using Mobil1 75W90 with 1 Qt Lucas Pure Synthetic. I drain out the bottom and filled through the shift mount as per B&Ms recommendation.

I've had some instances where the BM plastic collar is so 'tight' that I've actually had to take a small flapper wheel to the inside of the shift rod (not alot, but just enough) to make it fit...and even then it was a 'snug snug' fit...

I fixed my rattle by packing some grease in with the springs and shims inside the shifter.

I managed to get a video of the short shifter rattle today:

Car travelling in 5th gear, accelerating and decelerating between 80 to 85 km/h, 2200 to 2300 RPM.

Yeah same here. I used axle grease since its the thickest I have.
