Installation of airbags on 2008 Ex35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Does anyone know if it is required the Infiniti dealer to install airbags to my EX35 or is that something I can shop around for? I got a quote from the dealer that it was going to cost $2400!

I don't know that it is required but I don't know of many independent shops who would be willing to accept that type of liability. If they screw up, you have a wreck, and those bags don't deploy properly, they can be sued.
