Hey everyone - has anyone ever had or heard of someone having problems with the fitment of the MSA headers on a z31?

Mine is an '87 non-turbo and the angles of the new headers are just clearly wrong.

MSA is researching via pictures if the issue is with the car or the headers themselves - baffles me since the original headers were just taken off the car and fit just fine :)

Anyway, hoping it's a case of the pipes they shipped out being made incorrectly. Anyone have similar problems?

Thanks!
Tyler

New one to me - MSA stuff is pretty tried-and-true.

Keep us posted what you find out?

Sure, will do.

The only thing that even enters my mind - besides pipes just being wrong - is the fact my car has eibach springs on it. Is there any connection between the car being lowered and the headers not fitting?

MSA Header for the L6 was good, not a lot fo people running headers on the n/a vg.
Ride height should have no effect, a pair of blown motor mounts might?

Oh, yep - Shagged mounts will definitely make a difference.

well it isn't the mounts. I shipped them back to MSA today so we will see what they say.

Does anyone know of another different set of performance headers? I don't want to put the originals back on.

MSA does have good customer service, hopefully they can take care fo you. pacesetter I think used to make a set but then the msa's might be rebranded pacesetters. Otherwise you might find some guy that makes a few sets, like satan, not sure if he is still around.

Just an update here - Motorsport confirmed the headers fit the jig - which was never in question :) - so I had them refund me since they don't fit the car. Jeff, the customer service manager, was extremely reasonable but Alejandro and James - the customer service reps I dealt with for about 2 weeks - were incredibly not helpful, forcing me to escalate it to Jeff.

Anyway, I ordered a set of PaceSetter headers and they are arriving today. So I am hoping they fit. Whatever the outcome is, Jeff asked I let him know in case they need to perhaps change manufacturers of their headers.

So I'll let everyone know once I confirm fitment of Pacesetters.

Hey - final update here. The PaceSetter headers are fully installed. They look and sound amazing. You can really see them well with the hood popped. I am very happy with them!

I am going back to Motorsport with this information. Hoping they pick a new manufacturer.

I'll post some pics later today.
