Install new starter...engine cranks few seconds then died down

The title pretty much said what is wrong with my 240 I recently installed a new starter cause the old starter only turned over the engine a second and a half then died down. So I bought a new starter, installed it, the engine turn over little bit more now but then begins to die down. We also install new ground wires. Need help guys I'm seriously out of ideas of what the problem is.
