Ever wondered if the Cops have 'puters in their cars, why can’t you? Here's a DIY for adding a full PC to your ride.

That is no means practical to have that large of a monitor in your car, especially in the Rogue. Since the Rogue has a double din stereo enclosure, a tablet such as the Nexus 7 would be a good choice for a car puter. The installs for a 7" tablet looks relatively easy and looks great depending on how you mount it. At the moment, I dont want to permanently mount my tablet so I think ill wait a year or 2. My ultimate goal is to have with a tablet install:
- turn by turn Nav system(maps preloaded onto tablet so data reception would not be an issue)
-back up camera that can also record ***holes that hit and run me
-media center that automatically updates when it gets wifi in my garage
-access to more diagnostic tools such as Torque

what is the legality of having a carputer in your state? I know that watching videos while driving is stupid and illegal but would having one installed raise any concerns if you got pulled over ?

actually you'd be surprised how many people now a days have dash-cams, and carputers, etc. almost every construction contractor, utilities van/truck, business owner, has a computer mounted in his or her pickup/SUV. if you are stopped and an officer asks what that is about- simply tell him: "it helps me conduct my business". he would really only be asking, think that you are some kind of police car/official. put it this way, out of every 20 cars, there will be 1 with a computer mounted in it.

there is nothing illegal about it. as long as you are not caught watching video while driving. otherwise, it can be used as a GPS, music player, etc(just like any other cd/dvd system)

this is inside a verizon van, using the jotto desk (mounting under the front passenger seat:

yep, they were touch screens - but i hated them because our MDT software had very small onscreen buttons for all the 10-codes and basic things.

The 10 code buttons on our screens are a decent size. Theyre lined up across the bottom of the screens
