This swap is alot easier than most posts have shown.
This is what you will need.
-Altima electric fans (find at junk yard for about $20-20ft electric wiring (gauge not specific, just any will do)-Toggle Switch (a cool light up one might add HP, thats what i did)- 2 10mm wrenches (for clutch fan removal)- 10mm ratchet- wire cutters-hack saw-pliers
Step 1- Removing Stock Intake
First, you will need to remove the stock intake, this is simple just loosen the clamp around the MAF and remove all the hoses connected to the intake tube, unbolt the intake from the top of the radiator (10mm)
Step 2 - Removing Fan Shroud
Next, Removing the fan shroud. The big black plastic piece around the clutch fan. There are 2 10mm bolts holding the shroud to the radiator. Remove these and the wires from the top of the shroud, these are all emissions and you won't need these except the electric wires running from the wiring harness. Now muscle out the top of the shroud and just wiggle it until it comes out. Throw it away or keep it for extra plastic. Next, reach down in the engine bay and remove the bottom half of the shroud, this is a little harder to pull out, but nothing is needed on this, even the black container connected to it that runs to the intake.
Step 3 - Removing Clutch Fan
Okay, taking off the clutch fan. Take the blades off with the 10mm ratchet. Next, loosen the nuts on the motor of the fan by holding it in place with one 10mm and loosen the other 3 with the other 10mm wrench. To get the last one off take a pair of pliers and hold one of the bolts with those and remove the last one with the 10mm wrench. Take off the motor. Now put all the nuts back on and make sure they are tight. If they aren't tight you will know, because they will make a shaky squeaking noise when you start your car. Now you have removed the clutch fan.A lot cleaner looking engine bay eh?
Step 4 - Remove Emissions (optional)
If you haven't removed your emissions yet, this is the next step. If you have then skip this step. Underneath where your filter box or cone filter would be there is a canister and it is black. Take this off with 10mm, unplug all the hoses and everything connected to this. On a DOHC this is a little trickier but you could just plug the hoses up near the throttle body instead of removing them completely. Now that this canister is gone you should be ready to place the fans in the engine bay.
Step 5 - Installing The Fan
Slide the fan down into the engine bay and cut the plastic as needed to fit. It will take cutting around the top where the coolant hose runs from the radiator.
You can zip tie the fans after you get them to fit. you can use black zip ties, don't worry, we all use zip ties ... They are the most necessary aftermarket part.
Step 6 - Wiring The Fan
You will need to first run two wires together into the car wherever you want the switch, probably into the center console, you can run them through the wheel well and through the door it wont hurt anything and you can tuck and hide. BE CREATIVE.
Step 7 - Grounding Switch
Next, take the switch and ground it to your e-brake if its in the center console, or anywhere that is just metal. Hook both of the wires you ran into the car up to the ACC and POWER clips. Now your switch is ready to go.
After you strip the wires to the fans, all you need is the black (negative) ground and green (positive) power. Wire the two fans together matching black with black and green with green. Take the black wires and ground them to the engine bay, make sure it is pure metal, if you use the radiator bolt that will work. Now, you have grounded your fans, hook up one of the wires that you ran to the car (ACC) up to the fans power wire (green). Take the other wire that you ran from the car (POWER) and attach it to the battery however you want, but make sure it is going to stay. Now flip the switch and your fans should turn on. This will come in handy for cooldowns after a run.
Remember to watch your temperature and turn your fans on when you need them or just turn them on when you turn on your car. It won't hurt anything if they are running all the time, it will keep your engine even cooler.
Now after you have made sure the fans are working go back and clean up all the wires with electric tape and tuck all the wires so you have a clean engine bay and a clean interior. Your fans are ready to go and you lose that hideous clutch fan.
