So.. i have my manifold/ turbo/ turbo elbow off of my sr, and i was wondering if there is any advantage to having studs over just plain bolts. i have an aftermarket no-name manifold and turbo elbow and the studs and hardware are so cheep i was just going tho replace the studs (3 on elbow, 4 on manifold) with bolts.

i also plan on using the stock turbo to manifold locking tabs, so if i do use bolts, i cant use any washers on those 4.

someone please enlighten me!!!

It pretty much all about access to the nut. In some places you wont have enough room to get a bolt in there.

If Nissan wanted a bolt instead of a stud, they would have done it when they designed it. They didn't so leave it like it is. Buy new hardware if you really want to spend the money.

Just buy new hardware like mentioned. I have replaced the turbo, mani, elbo, and it would be a ***** to use bolts. I wouldn't use the studs, nuts taht came with the no-name mani...
