It's getting really hot out.

I have not been running my A/C since spring because one day the air just stopped blowing.

Today I turned it on and got 6 glorious minutes of cool air. I finally could roll up the windows and enjoy my QX4 in Air-Conditioned comfort.

Then, the air stopped again. All four fan lights were on the display (it was trying to blow), but just a tiny trickle was coming out.

Back down came the windows.

Back when this started, I also would turn the heat on but ... nothing would blow.

So it's not the "heat" or the "A/C" ... It's something, I suspect in the computer, telling it not to blow ... auto / manual, any fan config doesn't matter.

Can you help?

I have a friend who can get me whatever parts I need (if we know what they are). Some kind of filter, perhaps?

Thanks,Howie

If you hear the fans trying to blow air, but nothing's making its way though, I'd suggest checking the in-cabin microfilter. I'd suggest checking the in-cabin microfilter anyways, they're usually something people overlook for a long, long time.

Otherwise, sounds like an electrical problem. My favourite kind!

Oh please don't let it be electrical.

I'll check the microfilter and see how that goes, thanks!

If it's *really* plugged, then it might be the cause. But it'd take a lot of dirt and dust to bring it to that point. Has it ever been changed? Do you drive on dirt roads a lot?

Actually, if it blew hard for six minutes than stopped again, it probably isn't the microfilter, unless there's some kind of bypass I'm unaware of.

I'd cross my fingers, but really, it sounds electrical.

First off you might want to check the fuses first with a tester. I had a similar problem with my Accord, all of sudden it stopped blowing cold or warm air through the vents. The problem......................AC Resistor, it looks exactly like a fuse but it's actually located where the blower motor is in your cabin where the filter is. Does your ac compressor kick? If so, it has to be something related to the blower motor. If it gets complicated just take it into a trained mechanic, like I did.

Oh man, this is so what it is.

I can tell from reading the thread, that's gotta be it. I'll try the diagnostics at the top just to be sure but chances are high I'll be ordering those parts this afternoon from my buddy.

Thank you so much! I am a big "fan" of this forum now!!

So your clutch on the compressor is engaging right?
