There are many different brands of "bug and tar" removers available at your local auto parts stores...I've had good luck with different ones, Meguair's is a good brand to try if you find it.

3M Gloss Enhancer. Practically melts bugs as well as leaving a beautiful shine. I ride a motorcycle which has now gone through 5 seasons and 34,000 kilometers. That bike has NEVER been washed in 5 years. ALL I ever use on it is 3M Gloss Enhancer and two MicroFiber cloths (one dampened with Gloss Enhancer and a dry one to wipe off immediately after application. People constantly ask me if my motorcycle is new. When I show other motorcyclists how easily I can clean the bugs off my windshield (or theirs) and the fact that it still looks like new after 5 years, they're totally blown away.

3M probably makes the finest lineup of automotive and marine care products available. All the way from CLAY bars, to rubbing compounds, to scratch removers, to liquid one step waxes and a superb Paste Wax, as well as a whole line of detailing products for exterior/interior/tires etc. Problem is, like so many of their fine products, nobody other than professionals know they exist because the word ADVERSTISING is just not in 3M's vocabulary. Since they started sponsoring Nascar however, they've decided to make more of an effort to move their professional products into the consumer market. Having their new (non ex General Electric) CEO onside doesn't hurt either. I won't deny that 3M products are expensive but for me they just work and they last a long time.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a retired 3M employee. Had I not been, I probably wouldn't have been aware of the existence of these products either.

Where can I find that, achr? I like to spoil my cars with pricey products, anyway, they're worth it!
