I'm about to buy my first Infiniti and I'm wondering if anyone knows of any factory guidelines for installing 2-Way radio equipment in the M35X.

Ford and GM both have service notes for many of their cars that talk about how to keep the transmitter away from the various computer modules, along with tips for routing power and antenna cables. Hopefully Infiniti has something similar.

I'll be installing an amateur (ham) radio transceiver in my new M35x, but info on installing Public Safety or commercial radios should apply.

The service department at my local dealer is supposed to be looking into this for me.

Thanks!

I just installed a icom 2720H in my M35 in Taiwan. I have reciever stationed in the back since the dealer here does not recommend having it in the interior of the car for electrical reasons. I have the face plate and the mic installed in the glove compartment and the speaker below the driver seat.

KenstyleM35,

That sounds like a very clean installation.

I'm thinking about mounting an Icom IC-208H in the trunk, with a small trunk-lip mount dual-band antenna, then putting the control head in the glove box like you did, or maybe in the ashtray area (which works if you don't smoke).

I'm curious:

The IC2720 must pull about 12A on transmit. Did you run a pair of wires directly from the battery to the trunk? How did you route them through the car to the trunk?

How did you route the control cable?

Thanks!
