well i just recently bought a 90' 240sx, 5spd... and one of the things that bothers me the most is the INSANE chattering noise that comes from the rear brakes, ONLY when I'm in REVERSE... i'm sure it's loud enough for my neighbors to hear :(

it happens when i apply the brake lightly, and while traveling in reverse pretty slowly (like auto idle speed) ... sometimes it happens even when the brakes aren't even being applied, almost like the caliper is still gripping a little... i checked the brakes and the pads are still good, as are the rotors, and the e-brake grabs and releases perfectly...

i'm hoping i don't need a new calipers or something like that, any help would be greatly appreciated!

btw, it doesn't do this all the time, it seems like they only chatter after a little cruise and the brake pads are warmed up...

I think this is Nissans way of telling you that you need new rear pads. Mine did this ultill i put new pads on. No more noise!

oh ok... i guess i'll take off the rear pads and take a look at em more closely... maybe one of em is cracked or sumpin... but ya, i'm gonna replace them both anyways, so if that doesn't fix it, then who knows???

thanks

Make sure you have whatever factory hardware and shims that are supposed to be back there.
