370ccsT25z32 N60 (no not the n62)SAFC2LC-1 WidebandDell Inspiron

Ok, so my settings for SAFC2 got reset (YAY). They were done back before I had the exhaust redone. The exhuast is 3in ch w/o a cat and Apexi twincans. since my car is an s13 i knocked off the 2nd o2 bung on the test pipe and welded one for my wideband there.

While monitoring the data, i get an average 9.3 AFR on -27 correction, but it jumps all over the place as high as 23 drops to around 14 back up to 23 or higher, until it says error 8 sensor timing.

I am killing my plugs at this rate. The guy im borrowing the LC-1 from said if i foul it i owe him a new one. I hope he didnt screw me into getting him a new one. Or, is it an exhaust leak? My idle does go up and dip. I just need some help. This car is my daily, and now I'm screwed.

A ridiculously rich AFR can show up as super lean.

Do some mild heavy throttle pulls to monitor the AFR. When you see it dipping below 11:1, lift the throttle and adjust that area of the SAFC2. Move on to the next rpm range and continue in this fashion.

Read my writeup about using the peak/hold function here.

man i would recalibrate the sensor. check the lc-1 forums. hate to say it but there are alot of people having issues with that wideband. nonetheless, recalibrate it and see what happens. whats ur safc settings for the high and low maps

Your going to need a new sensor. Napa sells them for 50 shipped. Look under 2002 VW GTI 1.8t front O2 sensor. Its the same 5 pin heated sensor. I had the same problem so I just ordered the sensor waiting to install it. Mine would go full rich to full lean on WOT. Only time sensor would looks like it was workign was durning a hot idle.

I haven't had any problems. mine is about 16" away from the turbo. Maybe you are haivng back pressure in the test pipe and too much disturbance? What position is it located on the test pipe? if you were looking at a clock?I have lc-1 with xd-1 gauge, our factory 02 sensor....unscrew it and put in the wideband, then run an extended wire(speaker or whatever) and put your factory 02 in the test pipe See what happens then

Is your MAF good? What does -27 correction do?

-27% correction in a perfect equation world would bring the 370cc injectors back to 2700cc which is stock. So if no boost is made the car should be perfect normal under LOW throttle. But this is never true, but it is a good start point because you won't foul out your plugs...With my 555's i had it -48 to -42% across the board to bring my normal driving back to stock flow...

MAf is new. 7 psi btwsorry, been gone.

Neways, I fixed it with a new narrowband O2 sensor. The previous one fouled fast. If i did switch the two sensors, it would kill the wideband one i thought.

now no matter how far i knock it back, it runs rich on the wideband. the idle afrs jump between 13.8 and 14.7. Could I have a bad FPR? It's a stock one off of a later KA. Any ideas?

If you had a wideband 12" form the turbo it would die sooner than one 24" form the turbo. Because of heat. But for a one time use to tune a car ti will be perfectly fine. If it dies then it was dead already. I've had mine on for 7000miles and boost hard everyday and it's been installed for close to 1.5yrs now

You need to correct for injectors and MAF. I believe the SAFCII has an injector adjustment and a MAF adjustment settings. Or, you can go by straight + or -.

umm you mean the in outs for the MAF? then its 2(n/a z32) and 5 (ka24de 240sx). That is all the MAF adjustment I know about.

And, my o2 sits like 4 to 5 inches away from the turbo. The extreme heat off of a t25 plus the fact that sensor uses heater calibration, would kill it.

now why am I so rich? Fuel wise. the small coolant sensor has been replaced. what about the bigger one? New plugs yesterday. Disconnected O2 and am faking the signal with the LC-1 (I reomved the O2 sensor so I wouldnt damage it). Vac is at -20 or sumthin at idle and -25 coasting. And exhaust leaks result in a lean condition.

and Florida are your headlight covers black? Ive been wondering that for a while.

Yes they are black. The wideband is not going to die that quick. If you truely are worried then just don't boost. You won't kill it under low throttle..... So at least you can drive the car to the dyno with no problems and then use their wideband

meanie

ok, well I'll put it in the top bung, but i just thought the turbo pushing air on it and the heat would throw off the readings. I'll give it a shot.

It's closer to the source so better reading, but prolonged heat will wear it down faster. But ti will be fine for a one day tune. I've tuned 3 cars with mine ngk wideband putting it in the 02 sensor bung and just leaving the 02 sensor wire there...
