Do you guys know what models are the best and where you can find them at a good price? I need a tv for my apartment when I start working. I want something that would be great for watching movies, isn't overly heavy(so I'll be picking this biatch up and carrying it), stock speakers not an issue, and I don't want something thats 20", but don't want something thats 65" either. I also want a widescreen model tv if possible. I know I'm being kind of vague, but thats because I don't know what size, model, type I want and thats where you guys come in. I greatly appreciate the input.

Go to Circuit City or Best Buy 2 days after Christmas, look for the open box/returns.

As for Brands, I've had great sucess with Magnavox, and I know Sony makes the best tube TV's.

I've got a 32" Toshiba that I really like. When I bought my TV, I had two choices...a 32" "non-flat" tube or a 27" flat-tube like a Sony Vega. As nice as the Sony was, the larger screen more than makes up for the lack of a perfectly flat tube.

You're not looking for an HD or plasma set, are you? What's your price range?

BTW, carrying the 32" Toshiba was a real *****. My suggestion, buy a case or two of beer and invite a lot of friends (or enemies) over. Oh...don't let them drink until they're done moving the TV.

My limit is $2500, but I'd like to spend less if possible. And I would like something light, since I'm moving to a new area and dont' really know anyone there yet.

For $2500, you might be able to get a smaller LCD/DLP Projection TV. Maybe 42"-50".

Otherwise, go for a widescreen flat-tube HDTV. Either way, for $2500, make SURE it's an HDTV (or "HDTV Ready", which means you just need the signal converter).

Best Buy is okay for TV's, but you'll find better prices online. Never buy home audio gear at a major chain though, they rip you for the quality of stuff you get...

Yeah I bought all my audio stuff from a small audio store that sold the brand speakers that I wanted. They're good enough for me for a while.

Yeah I don't think I'm spending that much one, thats just the max I'll let myself spend. If I can get one for around a $1000, that would be good. If I was out of college and done moving for a while, I'd buy a really nice tv ( I love watching movies).

Good call. 2500 could buy you a really really clean s13 around here

Regardless, good luck on everything, you'll have to give me the details on the job and where you'll be at and everything on IM at some point.
