ok here goes im in the military currently deployed so i have nothing better to do then research for my new car well new to me anyway. I go home for R and R in about a month to pick up my 1995 Nissan 240 SX SE the issue i am having is which motor to put in i dont want to go crazy with it yet but i want to do either the SR20 or the RB25 swap has anyone crunched the numbers as far as Cost cause i found a place to get the S14 SR and the RB25 for the same Price but i mean as far as swapping it in and all that what the cost would be. Yes i know for the cost of the Rb wil be better horsepower but also come with more weight and less room in the engine bay. So what do you guys think SR or RB power? Oh and if you are wandering purpose of the car will be more of a DD/Drift Track Car just something to have fun in

thanks for taking the time to read any help would be appreciated

Josh

this thread sounds exactly like one from last week. so i'll reiterate what i said in that thread, motor swaps and budgets don't go hand in hand. rb will be more money. both will cost you a bit if you do everything right and don't mickey mouse your way through the swap.

ok so i have made a decision im going with the S13 Sr20DET in my S14 gonna build it up and looking for between 300 and 350 RWHP dont think that is too much to ask for out of a SR do you ? thanks

I don't think that's asking too much out of an SR. Although i believe that is pushing the limits on stock internals? I had a SR pushing 295 on stock internals ran like a champ... but i did baby it.

sr is cool but rb is baller. i am planning on going the rb route just because it is less common and I like the 6 cylinder sound. also, 300hp would be easier on an rb over an sr but there are plenty of sr's that do over 300 on stock...but who knows how long they last. the sr will also be easier just because they have been done so many times and they will also have alot of market support when it comes to upgrading/replacing parts.

Basically, it comes down to want you want to spend and what your long term goals are. If you eventually want 800hp, I wouldn't choose the sr but if you want 300 all day, go with the sr
