Hi all,

I've been shopping 2012/2013 M37's and a couple of them that I've driven have exhibited what to me, seem like slightly excessive driveline harshness/vibration particularly under acceleration. Now I know the VQ engine isn't the smoothest thing on the planet and I'm just wondering if this is just a characteristic of the vehicle, or is it a sign of a possible underlying issue like an engine or transmission mount gone bad? I test drove a car tonight and I love the thing and it's priced right, but was put off a bit by this. The tires on the car were Michelins and if I had to guest at about 80% tread depth.

Thanks for any input/advice.

Can you better describe what you're feeling? Is it in the steering wheel? The pedals? The seat?

Through the seat/chassis mostly. I've experienced this In a few used M37's and I'm guessing it's probably just a characteristic of the car, but it's enough to make me hesitant about buying it.

I've never driven in a V6 but my V8 has a little bit of a shudder in the driveline at low speeds/at acceleration. In my case (or rather, the previous owners of my cars case) they replaced the torque converter. These are the notes on my maintenance history:

-- Replaced torque converter
--- Customer stated that while driving 15-25mph, there is a very pronounced shake when accelerating

V6 might be totally different 'issue' than the V8 though.

I've had the car since it had 42kmi on it and it is now at about 130kmi and it's been fine.

Maybe a long shot but there is a bulletin for the M56/37 transmission/ecm reprogramming. (Subject: SB 2011-2012 M37/M56; Shift Responsiveness Issues Summary of ITB12021)

You might want to ask if this was needed or done to the car your interested in. Worth asking.
