Starting with the y-pipe; check out Sprot Compact Only, Custom Enterprise, and Stillen.

You can find a good cat-back system from all of the sponsors listed above.

However, I am seeing more and more people with Magna Flow mufflers, and custom exhaust from the cat back. I'm not totally sure of the muffler style/part# people are using, but hopefully someone will chime in with their opinion.

I personally went with the Greddy SP2 system, and I'm extremely happy that I did. It has a nice deep drone between 1000-2500rpm. At cruising speeds on the highway, it is not even noticable; but when you find the need for wide open throttle, it's a beautiful sound.

The Cattman exhaust has a lot of fans as well. I've helped install a pair of their (test group) headers for the 3.5L. Amazing results (additional 15-20hp), and quality components. The rest of their exhaust components are of similar quality (from everything I've read).

With Stillen you are getting a boat-load of R&D, with superb styling. I've yet to here anything negative about the products Stillen produces.

The thing with mixing and matching parts from different systems is that you can rarely find two systems that will meet up perfectly, without some sort of modification.

My advise would be to either buy a complete system, or go to a reputable local exhaust shop, and have the piping from the cat back custom fabricated.

As for piping size, that up to how you want it to sound. I would say 2.5" piping with an optional resonator.

yeah i was thinking about that. and 2.5" sounds excellent. there are a few reputable exhaust shops around here that will do an excellent job. still trying to find that y-pipe cheaper than stillen even if it is only slightly cheaper. now i just need to find out if they mandrel bend or crush....
