inop stock active x stereo

91 240 sx hatchback with stock active x stereo . worked ok till now . antennae goes up . stereo lights up changes stations ok but get no sound from any speakers. all fuses check ok i must be missing something somewhere. any help appreciated :help

The factory amplifiers sound like they are toasted. I would suggest buying a cd player and using its on-board amplifier instead of buying the active stereo stock amps. One of our regulars around the audio forums (checkered-member) is selling his and if you (A NICO Member) buy it he doesnt charge you shipping. Just FYI You can use your factroy speakers just as long as they are not dry-rotted (which means that they still have the foam connecting the cone to the frame around the edge of the speaker) then you should be good to go. Just remember that you bypass the factory amps (pretty easy to do).

Option 1 - Check to see if the speakers are dry-rotted.if they are not... then buy a cd player and bypass the factory amps.

Option 2 - If the speakers are dry-rotted, then you may need to replace the speakers and the source unit.

Option 3 - Screw the whole thing and join the circus.
