In trying to replace the inner tie rod on my '94 J30 , the actual rod portion came loose and apart from the hub nut portion that the loaner tool would go on to unscrew. I thought this would make the job easier; however, I was wrong because the tie rod tool I'm using seems to be just turning the nut and not unscrewing it because I see little to no movement and this should have been a relatively easy job and I'm on day two. Any suggestions.

should be a couple of flat spots on the cylinder to keep from rotating, use an open end wrench. i just did mine.
