What tool do you guys use to remove and install the inner tie rod? I have access to the Cornwell (version of the Lisle?) inner tie rod tool. But that does not fit over the inner tie rod. I was thinking huge pliers to remove it but to torque it to 30+ foot pounds of torque will be hard.

Any sugestions?

Come on now please don't tell me all the real techs on this board are gone!?

I don't want to use the tool below even thought it will work because I fear it will scratch or damage the tie rod.

hi,

so what the big deal with stratching the rod??? i m sure you can use the tool without bending new rod, you dont wanna do that, but i m sure a can of blk paint can fix a few stratches....golly i cant imagine what you d do if you paid 25 k for your Q like i did back in 99, :slap:

The way the tool works I thought would mess up the ball joint part of the inner tie rod. I am a lazy perfectionist. :)

Here ya go: http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/produ ... -ROD-TOOL/

I will lend it out if someone pays me what I paid for it plus shipping and maybe five bucks. Not sure if this tool will work on 1997-2006 Q45 inner tie rods.
