To save an alignment!
With car front up wheels straight, measure from Centre of tie rod to the start of the internal threads on the shaft that the rod screw into or where the nut was.
Before unthreading the bad tie rod, clean the threads, where the threads meet the barrel wrap a piece of electrical tape, this will show you the dimension length.
Count the numbers of turns it takes to remove the tie rod. Bear in mind the nut takes up room so use the correct side of the nut as your point of reference.
Now you have: The overall length of the tie rod screwed in. the thread length in and out and the number of threads to put it back.
The new tie rod end may be an exact match or not, but with the amount of info you have you can replace to the exact position +- 1/2 a thread and an alignment is not needed because you are within tolerances.
Before replacing any thing on the front end do a measurement, thread count and /or mark things up with white paint or electrical tape to signify the side of the tape that is important
