I tried searching but nothing came up(suprised) but if I don't have an ikey does that mean i dont have an inmobilizer? I have the S model with the basic of the basic. No alarm, manual windows and door locks, no packages. Basically the cheapest you can get the Versa for I got it.

Just wondering if the inmobilizer was in all the Versa or just the ones with the ikey.

I think it should still come, did you at least get a key remote that opens the doors?

But, as per the Nissan website, the '08 base S model comes with the vehicle immobilizer system standard, so I'm sure yours does, too.

the immobilizer is tied to a chip in the key itself. Your V should have it. The iKey has the same chip, along with a system to utilize it remotely with the car. Most cars from 2005+ have a chip in the key which serves two purposes:1) to work an immobilizer to make cars harder to steal2) to make the owners have to pay more to get keys with the chips in them instead of going to Wal*Fart.

;oP

hope that was helpful.

She hit it on the head..what a wise Jedi she is leading her Padawan

You can actually see WHERE they put the chip in the key too...look at the plastic head of the key and you should see an irregularity at the base where they slid it into the plastic head then melted it in there permanently.

Better than how they use to make that part removable...my ex-wife's old Mustang had that and the cover fell off and the chip fell out at night...we were stranded in a dark parking lot until....miraculously...we found the chip!
