Yes you need it. You'll have to get it from Nissan, or the junkyard.

Nissan charged me 50 bucks for the one for my truck. These things are usually like 12 bucks. Stupid dealer parts.

You got some mail by the way splint

Ok, the booster works on vaccuum. On a turbo car, when you are on boost, there is the opposite of vaccuum. If your throttle gets stuck on, your brakes would work worse than having no booster at all.

Also it stops the diaphram from rupturing on 30 pound boost.

Generally it wouldn't rupture from the boost, as we know 25psi of vaccuum is what it expects normally. It also stops oil from the turbo going into the booster, which will rot the diaphram. A hole in the booster diaphram will be a vaccuum leak, which is bad for MAFM equipped cars trying to idle.

Yeah go to the wreckers, find the newest looking one off any car that has the same diameter vaccuum hoses. It's not rocket science.

ok, thanks for the smart *** comment. like i stated above the junkyards around here cater to rednecks. THERE ARE NO NISSANS TO GO PULL PARTS OFF. im sure nissans are a dime a dozen your way. im not so fortunate. ill just go to nissan and see if i can get one. w/e

Calm down mang. He meant you can use one off of any car that has the same diameter hose. Chevy, Ford, Dodge, whatever. They all do the same thing.

I don't think he was intending to be condescending. It's simply a check valve and serves the functions stated above. You can go down to your redneck junkyard and get one from any car there. AFAIK, all cars have them.

Hmmm, interesting. Where is this check valve located......on the big vac hose that goes from the booster to the back of the intake plenum? As far as I know, my S12 doesn't have one......and I didn't even mess with the s12 brake booster vac line when I did my swap...other than putting it on the nipple on the back of the ca-det mani.

It sits between teh two halves of the brake booster hose. You'd easily mistake it for a coupler, if you didn't know what it was.

So what exactly is it's purpose?

You should have been able to get one for free from any make/model at the wrecking yard. At $30..at least you know it will fit.

Lighten up man. Sorry if you got offended.

But like the followup posts said, anything from any car will work. You just gotta get the pipe diameters correct. Anything Nissan should have been fine.
