well i just installed my injen intake, short ram for now, gonna wait till after winter to put the extension on and my question is this

since i removed my mechanical fan, i have nothing to bolt the intake too, so basically it supports itself off the throttle body

does anyone have this kind of setup? if so, did you do anything to keep the intake stable so it doesnt bounce around?

any info is greatly appeciated...

I never really had a problem with that happening on my 240. I just have it hooked up with that latch they gave you (next to the headlight).

Are you referring to the clutch-fan? Nothing should attach to the fan except the pulley. Did you remove the fan shroud?

I'm not sure how the Injen intake is mounted, but I assume it is similar to the AEM setup. It is supported by the TB and a bracket from the radiator support cross-member. It shouldn't touch the fan shroud or the radiator..... and definately not the fan!

my mistake, i meant since i removed my mechanical fan and shroud, i have nothing to bolt the intake too, there is also nothing off the intake to bolt it to the radiator cross member, i know what your talking about, the aems have it but injens do not...it basically is just hanging there right now only being supported by the tb...

Hmmmm.... interesting. Is this an s13 or s14?

You have a couple options:

You could put the fan shroud back on, and mount it like it is supposed to be.

Or you could go to the hardware store and buy a couple angle-irons an make a mount for it. There are 4 bolts that connect the MAFS and the filter adaptor. Use one of the lower ones as the mounting point for the intake. Use one of the studs that used to hold the air-box as a vehicle mountig point (just in front of driver's side wheel well). It would be good to use a couple rubber washers between the mounting bracket (angle-iron) and the MAFS to reduce vibration.

Your choice either way. If you like the fan shroud off, build your own mount. If you don't mind putting the shroud back on, then you're all set.

Maine gave about ure only options. i have aem and have no problems cuz of the brace that comes with the kit, i mounted it as he said with one of the lower bolts on the MAFS and filter adaptor and then mounted it to one of the studs that used to secure the factory air box. Good luck!
