I'm buying a 350Z but it already has a injen intake on it. It is extended and the air filter is down facing to the ground. I live in Alaska and it rains alot. I read that if the filter gets wet it can mess up your engine. Should I take it off and replace it with a factory one? Oh yeah, it has a Borla exhaust if I off the air intake, will I lose the beautiful growl and tingling sensation that I get when I start it up? As you can tell I don't know much about "Ricers" as I've heard them called. So any information you could pass on to would be great before I buy it.

yeah, just like my filter yours sits low, if you happen to submerge it in water you could risk getting hydrolock (water in the engine, not good)..since you say you live in Alaska i suggest either bringing it to a mechanic or doing this yourself, but remove the front bumper and just convert your intake to a short ram, remove the silicone hose extender and just clamp it on to the actual intake part, as for your borla sound it shouldn't really sound any different. you can also get this thing called a hydroshield, its by injen as well and its a mask made from a certain microscreen which helps repel water. I live in soFLA, it rains alot so i got one.

A ricer is not a car its a person that ruins a car.

anyway i have the injen CAI and i love it but i don't drive my Z on wet roads. You could just convert to a short ram like soupdude was saying. would keep the nice tone under the hood but you would lose the cold air and the whistle (mine whistles loud). Everything would work out though. Good luck!

I have an Injen CAI on my 04' Z and I would agree that you should invest in that shield! My CAI has a really loud whistle at around 3k rpm's. I live in SoCal so I dont really have to worry about any kind of rain...
