Are those weld bumps supposed to be there? But really, I'm not that worried or upset about that weld. Here's what I'm really sketchy about.

This is with my finger blocking the opening so you can see how much metal is blocking the airflow.

Kyle, if it isn't supposed to be like this... I can go down today to exchange it so we don't have to fool around with shipping it to each other.

Mine didn't look like that although I got the chrome. I think that the metal "flash" didn't get burred out on that one. Injen's QA sure is slackin'

So what do you guys think will happen if I install it like this? Will it run too lean or too rich? Or hell no, don't install it like that?

Today's my day off and I so wanted to install it today.

Thats pretty odd. Looks like a sketchy job to me. Is there any way you could maybe "mill" that out? Its definitely an obstruction which may or may not have consequences.

Thats an obstruction for the breather. I don't think its CRITICAL, but for the money, i think i'd want it to be right! check out my thread!

zerothread/309004

They RMA'd it for me. Sent it back yesterday

^Yea, I know. I saw your thread. That's why I posted the pics of the welds. Don't look as bad as yours did but still want to know what's up.

I have no clue what the 'breather' does... anyone care to explain it to me?

The breather tube is connected to the engine crank crase. It prevents a build up of pressure in the crankcase of the engine.

If you set your digital camera on "macro" (the little picture of the flower), the close ups will come out much better

I haven't gotten a reply back from Margaret or Kyle. I e-mailed them both.

Guess this install is going to have to wait a couple days.

I just tried that and the end of the tube comes out perfect... but you can't really see the obstruction.

Lol, yea man. I wouldn't be taking it as calmly if this has that obstruction for the breather tube AND no slot for the maf sensor. If you look in the second pic... it's by my thumb. I just didn't take a pic of that because I AT LEAST think there is no prob with it.

Alright guys, what do you say? Should I install it as it? I showed it to my gf's dad, he said the welds look good, he said he could maybe chip away at it with a grinder but he said that it's possible that like a pin hole leak could develop in the welds and the intake would be 'leaking' air. He said he wouldn't bother if it was his.

I received a e-mail from Margaret saying she's sorry for the kit I got and she has set aside another one for me if I want to exchange it. Should I spend my Saturday doing that? It's about a 40 mile drive to Costa Mesa from my house.

I need some opinions.

hell yea! drive there and expect an exchange... but before you leave their store.. make sure you inspect it.. and do a side by side comparison.

ive been thinking about buying the injen... but have really had second thoughts for my Altima coupe. i mean ive had the short ram and cold air on my old 02 celica gts.. but i never really even thought to look at the welds.i guess i was nieve back then

also if u drive to their store to exchange it.. i would ask for some freebies for your troubles.. decals.. license plate holder? maybe an extra injen cone filter?? lol

The intake comes with a license plate frame. And no decals for me, not my thing. But I did e-mail Margaret back and I asked if maybe I could get some of the purchase price credited back to my credit card.

Otherwise I told her I would prefer to ship it back with an RA# since I BELIEVE that is free.

WAS EVERYONE'S INTAKE PERFECTLY SMOOTH ON THE INSIDE? I RECEIVED MINE TODAY AND THE INSIDE WELDS WHERE THE MAF ATTACHES ARE KIND OF ROUGH. I COULD PROBLY KNOCK DOWN THE BURS WITH SAND PAPER BUT JUST THOUGHT THE INSIDE QUALITY MIGHT BE A LITTLE BETTER SINCE THAT IS WHAT MATTERS.

Damn, so Margaret and Kyle's customer service is awesome... but their 'customer service' hotline doesn't do anything. I just called because I want to head down their today to exchange my intake and the guy just doesn't seem like he wants to help me at all.

He said they're not set up today to do the exchange. He will however, allow me to purchase another intake.

So they are set up to take more of my money and allow me to buy another intake, but they are not setup to allow me to exchange the intake that is in my hands and take one of theirs off their hands. He said the people that inspect it aren't in today. What is there to inspect? The breather tube is obstructed... doesn't take much skill to be able to deduce that. He also won't allow me to do the exchange and just have them take care of whatever paperwork on Monday.

So I was able to get through to Jeff, I think he's a manager. And he said that he'll go ahead and do it for me. Can't wait, I'm gonna go now.

BlackNWhite,

We run a bit of a skeleton crew on Saturdays, with returns and the like it gets a little bit difficult for an on the spot exchange.

The problems with Injen has been noted, and Jeff (the Sales Manager) has been made aware, to the point where we have begun checking all of the intakes from Injen that are being received to ensure there are no quality issues.

We also realize that they have been shipping mismatched heat shields with the intakes, and will absolutely make sure everyone who ordered gets the appropriate heat shield (although we've found some are happy with the mismatch, who knew? LOL).

We rushed Injen, and then immediately (same day) rushed those same intakes out to get those to you guys as soon as possible, so by the time we heard of potential issues, all of them were on their way.

We apologize for the issues in their QA, and anyone with any problems, please contact us ASAP and we will rectify any issues.

I'm glad this GB went off so well, we're open to anything future you guys would like to jump on, simply let us know.

Do you guys have grille inserts planned for the OEM fascia?

Injen is better quality than that!!

I had one for my s13, and there were NO weld bumps inside, just super smoothness, welds on outside!

What kind of grille inserts were you looking for? We carry some billet versions. I'd personally like to see a urethane surround with a mesh backing, but it's all a matter of R&D time and priorities. We've been getting beat up by G37, current 350Z, G35 Sedan, and last but not least, Altima Sedan customers for a lot of product.

We do our best to pump things out, but it's always a challenge, especially with all of the new vehicles that are (of course) different from the previous models.

I'm looking for either something that makes the chrome mustache look hot , or a grille that completely removes the chrome mustache all together

I'm with you, lets toss the chrome and do quality black mesh without an emblem

BTW, my intake is smooth inside and out from what I could tell in the dark while I installed it.
