Searched, but didn't find answer. I have Injen IS Intake with Cold Air Extension on my S13. Injen air filter came with intake as you all know, and I was wondering if Apexi filter is better. If so, is it worth replacing it or just leave as it is? If I should get Apexi filter, will it be a direct swap?

Man, i never loved an air filter like my old K&N i would go with them, they have always been my favorite, but I have also wondered about this "funnel" intake.

Does anyone know about the Funnel intakes?

that funnel intake is there to creat less turbulence inside the air filter. Creates more smooth flow of air.

There was a filter test done by some japanese website. They did a dyno and tested how efficient the filtration was. Sucking in dirt through the filter using a vacuum I think.

Apexi was the cleanest and provided the most increase WHP.

Love the injen cold air intake. Sound, bit of power, looks and gas milege...etc. Here's the test result.

I'd love to get Apexi filter, but not sure it'll fit and worths replacing it.

My buddy got this filter on his Gs-T before he sold her to get his 240. He loved it. He says there was a noticeable difference from his Stock Injen. The funnel design to route air in, resists the amount of "turbulance" inside the funnel and the routed air just enters and goes. I will purchase one once INjen gets here.

Then it looks like I just can swap Injen filter with Apexi filter, right?

Well my buddy did it on his Gs-T Eclipse's Injen. So I do not see why not. I am not going to put my word on it though because I haven't seen one on a 240sx. Let me know when yah get it though so I can have 0 worries when I go to get one.

I also have a CAI by Injen and I replaced the Injen filter with an autozone cone air filter that has an opening in the front like an apexi. I hope it filters as well as an Injen. I can't feel a difference in power. They're only about $20 each so I replace it every 6K.

I have a K&N now. I like it, but I heard that they have a tendency to gum-up engines. Is that only if they're not cleaned properly or left to dry long enough?

My friend's Injen is all dirty and soggy looking, it looks like they're made out of different materials. I'd like to use my Apexi filter with the AEM or Injen aluminum intake piping, because it seems like it would work better than the stock plastic piping (except my friend's Injen piping is broken where it uses the bracket to attach to the radiator, and now there's a hole in it, so I'm not sure how good it really is).

Ive run K&N filters on every vehicle ive owned and have never had any gumming problems of any kind. Just got a k&n FIPK for the 240 and it fits up nice.

Yeah I heard that too, aboot a year ago. From what I was told, the problems were caused by the liquid found in the K&N cleaning kit, the red one. That stuff would get on the MAF and gum it up. I believe I was told that GM had a bulletin out describing the cause and effect.

Okay, I'll answer to my own question. Did some research and found this. I hope this helps some people.

Injen intake kit for S13 comes with 3.00" Injen Air Filter and Injen part number is X-1014-BR. This can be replaced with Apexi Power Air Intake Filter Universal 75mm(3.00") Flange and Apexi part number is 500-A026.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I don't want to give out bad info to people.

I went from a standard K+n type to a Apexi Dual Funnel Power Intake, and now i don't have to clean my AFM. Also changed my AFM at the same time, as the Apexi one bolts straight onto an RB20/RB26/Z32 AFM without any adaptors..

I know most of the top cars over here run the Apexis, i think allofmy friends run Apexis, and the last of them are still using K+Ns, but even he's about to change..

If you can make it fit, do it !

Talked to one of Apexi sales reps and yes, 500-A026 is the correct one for 3" opening. It'll replace Injen filter that comes with the intake. My problem is no one has it in stock, and someone said it's been back order since July 9 2006. Where can I buy this????

hey sorry to dig up from the dead but i didnt want to start a new thread with one with nice info.

I got an injen cold air intake extension piping which i am going to use in conjuction with my injen knock off (lol) intake pipe from ebay.... it came with an ebay unknown crap filter.. its dirty as hell and im doing maintenance... so since i never had an original injen intake filter... either way i figured id go injen or apexi but from all ive read and heard over the years about the apexi i say im going with the apexi.

Since you listed the part number i googled for it and came up with many different sales of the apparently same item...

I like buying from frsport but if there are places that sell cheaper i dont mind... I am in canada, one guy tried to sell me the used apexi intake filter with a little elbow thingamajig adapter... he was asking 100 (wth), and a canadian dealer was asking 175 (WTF?!)

http://www.frsport.com/APEXi-5....html

They are asking for 75$. Does it come with everything I need? Does it come with the elbow/adapter thingamajig?

I've seen some sites on internet (that i know nothing about) asking even 60 bux but i dont know if they come with everything and some up to 95$...

Do advise me thanks

I don't have an answer for you, but I ended up buying AEM Dryflow 3" filter and I'm happy with it.

okay i am just wondering on one thing really... i found out more.. the apexi power intake comes with the 'whole kit' with the elbow/adapter to the maf... but also independanelty as just filter.

Just as a filter however the rear has two sets of 4 bolt patterns... it still needs an adapter... the injen cold air intake extension kit comes with nothing but the pipings and silicon couplers.... so i still need some kinda adapter to fit the filter and be a straight pipe that i can couple to the intake extension pipe... :-/

I dont need the kit with the iron heavy elbow... as i have the cold air intake extension. I am thinking I need something like the one bellow:

This is for an e46 i believe. Something like that neck? Jump in people

the gumbin up is the owner cleaning the filter and adding to much airfilter oil to the element, then the airfilter oil gets sucked thru on to the afm hot wire and cause it to read wrong. solution, dont gobb the air filter up w a/f oil.

to the guy using a cone style 20 filter, buy a knn for 35 and a recharge kit and keep a quality filter, the "cone" filters found in the ricer isle have metal mesh on the inside and outside which rust and the element isnt cotton, its paper, get the knn
