Pulled the engine and A/T transmission (KA24E) out of my car. Put in rebuilt engine with 5 speed transmission. Pulled off all the emissions crap and turbo charged the car. Except the turbo and exhaust system, everything is stock and was in good working order. Now the engine cranks steady but won't fire. Except wwith starting fluid.

Timing is good: #1 cylinder at TDC with Dist. rotor at #1 spark plug.Have fuel pressure in the fuel rail and have compression in the cylinders.Have spark on all plugs: Brand new spark plugs.New Battery has full charge.

Here's the problem: Injectors are not spraying. Tested each injector by connecting direct power to them to see if they spray, they are all good. Tested each plug for a signal with a test light when I crank the egine over, all have a pulsing signal. The test light lights up off and on when cranking the engine.

Couple things I've noticed: With the ignition off I tested the injector plug's 12v source and the test light lights up. They shouldn't have power to them if the ignition is off, right? I have the alligator clip to ground and the other end on the 12v source on the plug.

Also I don't know where to hook the vaccum line from the FPR. All my emissions stuff is removed. Can I just plug that off?

And do I need to remove the A/T control unit?

So does anyone have any ideas why the injectors are not spraying. Any help is appreciated.

Think I have found the problem. Well a few problems. First my FPR was stuck open and the vaccum not hooked up. Changed that and hooked up the vaccum. Injectors are spraying now but I have a weak spark. Coil checks out good, all sensors are good. Timing is good.

I 've narrowed it down to two things. I need to clean my battery connections. And if that doesn't work, I think my starter is drawing to much voltage. I have another starter that works.

I'm headed over to the garage tonight. I let you guys know how it goes.

Try a few extra grounds from the engine, to the chassis. Worked for me.

Thanks for the reply,I should have mentioned, did the ground already. Ground is excellent. Tested with my ohm meter. It was the starter. I changed the starter and it made a big difference. The engine cranks over faster and I have good spark but it will still not fire. Injectors spray, have spark, compression, and timing is good. All sensors are good.

I think it's the gasonline. I might not have gotten all the bad gas syphoned out. I'm thinking maybe a quarter to half gallon of bad gas was still in the tank when I put good gas in. I looked at the spark plugs and they look like they have little bubbles on them. I'm thinking it's water. Forgot to mention the car sat for two years.

Can a quarter to half of gallon of bad gas mixed with four gallons of good gas foul it up enough where it wouldn't start? Anyway, I'm gonna syphon the gas out again and open the access panel to the tank and pull the fuel pump. Then get in there and really clean the tank out good. Then put some fresh gas back in. Hopefully that solves the problem. I want to hear this car run.

BTW, nice turbo setup, almost looks like mine except I have the SOHC.

So I got rid of the bad gas. Have new gas in the tank and it still won't fire. So now I'm getting pissed and swearing. Thinking WTF could be wrong with this car, I have checked everything 20 times.

For ****s and giggles I decided to turn the dist. around 180 degrees. Bingo! She fired right up. Stupid guy who rebuilt my engine set the timing on the exhaust stroke. Well you can imagine the ensuing carnage with guy who rebuilt my engine. He say bring it over and he'll fix it. I said screw you I'll fix it myself.

Anyways, Hope these post help the rest of you with figuring out with whats wrong with your cars if anything. Happy motoring.
