I need a injector for my J30t ..Should I buy an aftermarket one????

Also should I replace all 6 instead of just one??

someone told me i should change all ...because the cost is high in labor....so instead of worring about paying for labor ever again just pay one time and get them all in/.

if one is bad, then it is more than likely that the rest are on thier way, i highly suggest that they all get changed at the same time, since you are paying a lot for labour......

to make sure that the injector is not working, get an multimeter, set it to the lowest resistance setting.... then remove the injector connector of the injector in question, place the multimeters probes on the two pins that are coming out of the injector itself (to clerify, you are not testing from the connector side, you are testing the injector itself), the resistance should be between 10-14 ohms, not kilo ohms or mega ohms, just ohms (14 is little too high), anything above such a reading will mean that the injector is toast, i hope this helps, good luck

I guess it depends on the method you are going to be using to remove the bad one. Are you just going to grind the intake manifold enuf to remove the injector like the procedure on the fuzzycat site, or are you having the whole manifold removed? If the later, then since you are going to be shelling out the big bucks for labor, I'd replace them all.

IMO aftermarket ones are fine as long as they are for the J.

I don't think thats the right injector. The ones on my 93 where different than that. One site I looked them up on shows those to be the ones for the 93 - 96 J30 but then it says for the VQ motor. The J30 has the VG motor. I'm pretty sure you need the ones that look like this:

Never. Been on here awhile and never even heard of one going bad.

Oh ok great are those the ones you are selling?????

I wonder if my mechanic would rip me off, with the transitor unit.....I just didnt think so because its not a high cost in labor.......

Im just so mad because i paid all this money for my car to be fixed and now its not....I need an injector now.....

Thanks for your help

transistor unit (ignitor chip) doesnt go bad on the J, unless you have the older model ones (nissan never installed the older ignitors on the J, however, they were installed on the early 300zx na and tt engines, and they were called back and replaced), the older model has metal fins, and it is installed in the front timing belt cover

the old ignitor (red arrows), if you have that one, you have a problem

the new ignotor (green arrows), if you have that one, you should be safe

Ok well I have the new one and I just replaced it and I am very upset.

Somone told me that if a ingnitor chip goes bad none of the cylinders will run.....and on mine 3 were still running....is that true, that if it goes bad none of them will work ????

Thanks

I echo the other guys if your going to keep the J for awhile and are getting it done properly, get them all changed out. I had the injector on cylinder two fail this year. I did get it properly chnged but just the one........unfortunatly my prperty taxes where due and couldn't afford to change em all. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the other ones don't fail this year (hopefully next or sometime after.....when I'll replace the rest of them).

BTW are you absolutely sure it's the injector? Sometimes a bad ignition coil pack can mimic injector failure (I've seen it on J's). The way to check if it's a coil pack is it to swap a working coil pack with the existing one (that works) on what you suspect to be a failed injector.

hey guys im not sure if this is the same problem, but my j30 is only running on 3 cylinders. i have taken it to 3 different shops, none claiming to be infiniti experts but neither of them say they can find out why exactly without ripping the motor apart? one claims that the timing belt slipped or sumthing and a valve was broken? supposively there is no *combustion* to the 3 cylinders? anyone heard of this happening or have a remedy? TIA

I would do the ohm test described earlier in this thread to rule out(or in) the injector or coil pack. You can do this yourself. The engine cover is easy to remove and multimeters are cheap!

I would also try and see if the ECU is throwing a code. There are two "sticky's" in this forum that detail how you can obtain the code depending on year of vehicle. Follow the instructions-it's easy to do!

It may be time to bite the bullet and take it to a Nissan/Infiniti dealer to get correct diagnosis. The mechanics on the J30 engine aren't run of the mill.
