thinking of doing the job myself, replace all 6 injectors. but i don't see anything that tells what method is used to hold the injectors/rail to the engine manifold. does it just snap in or are there screws that actually bolt the rail in? i don't want to get stuck doing a fuel related job myself and don't know how to get everything back together right. and other than the upper phlenum gasket, are there any other gaskets to replace? thanks.

It might be worth checking to see if the M30 was part of the injector recall... I seem to remember something about some M's being part of the same recall as the 2nd generation Maxima recall in the mid 90s.

Other than that, I don't have much to offer...

Good luck!

thanks for responding. i've taken a closer look at the car and when i compare injectors on the car and my new ones, i see extra screws and bolts that will most likely hold them in tightly.

I would still call to see if the recall was completed...

I wonder what the recall was for? Same Phase one injector design but Infiniti's were never recalled.

Also you might need to replace the hard rubber seal/spacer on bottom of fuel rail.

I believe the M30 had the same injector design as the 85-88 Maxima, and was a part of the same recall - it was apparently an issue with the injectors leaking due to changes in fuel additives. Too bad the Q's injectors weren't recalled too

is this spacer different from the ones connecting the injectors to the rail?the new injectors came with rubber seal on the bottom. and a new seal kit came with 1 small and 2 larger rubber seals.

Q45Denver may be referring to a part on the Q45 - i'm not sure. Perhaps the M has the same type of part. The Q has a hard plastic/rubber spacer between the runner and the bottom of the fuel rail.

I thought the M30 had the later injectors, like those in the 3G Maxima? If so, its mostly a tedious job. Not very difficult though.

I did it in the sweltering heat and finished in 2 hours (VERY MOTIVATED TO FINISH). I think you'll need a throttle body gasket, but I reassembled everything on the Maxima without using new gaskets. I knocked on wood and it ran like a champ.

I really miss that Maxima.
