For those that said its only 2-3 bolts... thats bull****. THere are 2001 things blocking it, and ive gotten 1999 off. There is a tube coming out of the front of the plenum blocking it, and the back wont even budge. Its like the fpr is bolted to the plenum. There were 3 actual bolts i removed holding the rail on. How did you guys do this???

Remove the IAC ****. Then theres two bolts in the back one is like a 10mm and the other is a 14mm I got it off yesterday just fine.

Yup... just got mine reinstalled yesterday.

Take off the FICD and all that junk...

Remove those support brackets....

Carefully start to remove the complete wiring harness...

Remove all the vacuum lines....

Should be 2 nuts holding the rail to the intake manifold, remove those....

There is also a nut on the back side of the rail under the FPR that has to come off....

Then you have to remove the coolant line to the turbo off the intake manifold...

You should be able to slide it out then....

It was a huge pain in the *** with the motor on the stand, I couldn't imagine doing it with the motor still in the car. It was a 2 hour job with it on the stand, just so you know what you are in for.

Well if your just taking and reinstalling the injectors no need to take the rail out. Took me about 20 minutes to do it the first time while it was in the car. You gotta get creative with the tools.

I guess I just threw away alot of that stuff before I put the motor in the car:) I only have 3 bolts holding mine off... can get it in about 20 minutes now!

Well i dont know what of that stuff i can take off. Whats the FICD? I Took of the silver colenoid and that 2 plate piece thats between the plenum and valve covers but the back of the fuel rail wont budge.

Well i just got them out. I took out the silver solenoid on the center of the plenum (dunno what its called but its like the AIV and other stuff) i also had to take off the TB and there are 4 bolts total that hold the fuel rail itself on. I also had to take a bolt off that held the fuel lines going to it but oh well. When the first injector slid out of the rail it sounded like a bathtub draining as the fuel poured out. I hope this is a sign that they were clogged because im buying new ones and this will mean the solution to all the problems in the world... including aids ;)

To those of you like NeedCAforS13 and others who said they managed removing them in 20 minutes... how did you do it?! Ive spent hours so far, removing all the fuel and vaccum lines trying to get at the last bolts, and its taking forever

If there is some other way to remove them, just for cleaning and inspection could someone please explain how to do it, it would help greatly!

BTW I tried searching and this is the only thread to do with injector removal for the CA.. so I did try and find the info before resorting to posting

it is possible to remove and put new injetors in without unbolting a ton of crap or removing the rail completely. it involves unbolting the rail and something else that i can't remember and then pushing the fuel rail towards the intake mani. It takes a lot of patience and you have to be careful. the first time i attempted it i had a friend helping me. I was pushing the rail and he was trying to pull out the injectors. he got a little too frustrated and tried to muscle an injector out and broke the tip off in my intake. wonderful kid. also the same kid who f'd the cam timing on my buddy's talon and caused the head to go byebye.

thanks for the info

ive gotten the fuel rail loose, just not enough to remove the #3 and #4 injectors because it is still attached at the back of the rail just under the FPR and for the life of me I cannot get at those two bolts, ones 10mm and one is 14mm

I pulled off alot of that stuff from my motor before I put it in the car... really simplified the back intake manifold area. I have plenty of room back there to undo the bolts that hold my fuel rail on. Not sure what you're getting snagged on though.

yeah, theres a pointless heater hose that wraps around the whole back side of the engine bay. i removed it and ran a short hose from the firewall to the block or wherever. i have tons of room back there now. thing also only uses 3 vacuum lines, its awesome.

i honestly dont see how you guys are removing the fuel rail so quickly and easily. it took me freaking forever when it was on a stand! i even took off the manifold just to make it a little easier. if you asked me to do it while the eingine was in the car i would probably run and hide. and there were totally more than 4 bolts holding mine on. i distinctly remember there being 197 thousand, all in different non-metric sizes with the sides partially rounded off.

care to elaborate on how you did it? that would be extremely helpful

I dont even know if I have to be taking them off to clean them, I thought I might just because my car will sputter but wont catch, and will only run on starter fluid. It has spark, and it seems to have fuel (gas on plugs) .. but its either not getting enough fuel, or its getting too much

Im also not sure if I hooked up the vaccuum lines properly, I know there is an "explanation" in the newbie FAQ but its convoluted and difficult to follow (easy way, and correct way?) .. if anyone can help me out it'd be greatly appreciated

I did mine in like 20 min. too, and it was in the Car at the time. I didn't completely remove the fuel rail either though. There are only 3 bolts that actually attach the fuel rail. Removing the Idle stuff (the big thing sticking out of the side of the intake mani pointing twords the valve cover) and the 2 support brackets should make it easier, but I did it without removing them. You HAVE to remove the nut on the back of the housing though. It's actually a nut for the intake mani, but they put a bracket on the fuel rail and then the nut goes on top of that to help hold the fuel rail and attach the intake mani.
