Posted this in 240 tech section and didnt get any replies.

I have a few questions about injectors and the terminology that goes with them.

I have heard that injectors dont care how you hook them up, positive or neg to either side. I have also heard that if your using used injectors, they polarize themselves, meaning that it does mater how you hook them up. Is this true? Also if it is, is there anyway to use an electrical tester to find out what side is/was positive?

On the top of injectors is a metal piece, almost looks like a button on mine. Do those have any other purpose other than to hold them in place?

Lastly, what exactly is an 'injector clip'. Searching on the net returns different results, some people have it listed as the plug itself and some as this little, thing piece of metal that somehow goes over the top of the injectors.

the polarity doesnt matter on the injectors its just gets voltage form the ecu to tell pulse width..

the injectors clips would be the red caps on the injectors that has prongs that hook into the factory harness..

as for you "button" top injectors i have no idea i have never seen them before, for what i know the fuel will enter through there.

nice injectors btw are they sard or something?

Yea they are Denso/Sard, nice eye. Bought them used, that sets like 600 bucks.

Im going to have to make a damn custom plug for them though. If you take a good look at them, you notice that the clips are pretty strange. They are designed specifically for the SR, from SP-Power(who i would seriously recommend against buying anything from, they have awful customer service. Asked the guy for the custom adapter and he said i was basically waisting his time....) I was thinking of taking insulated spade clips and connecting them to the 2 prongs on the injector. Then filling the space inside the clip with silicone, after that, covering everything up with heat shrink. Im open to ideas however, if anyone has something better than that post away ^^.

Basically, the reason i have to do this is for some RETARDED reason, the injectors have a special adapter that goes over the clip and then connects to the stock harness. I cant get it separate, the injectors come as a kit with the adapter. Oh man was i pissed when i found all this out, i mean what type of logic goes behind making something like that!!!

Yea... thats why i bought SR injectors for my kat project ^^. Just saying they were designed for the SR by SP-Power. If you look at the clip however you can see that they do not look like standard ka/sr inj's, they are custom. (custom.. not my favorite word atm!)

The silicone Idea you have is a good one except when taking out the injectors in the future will be a *****. So what you could do and this may sounf funny is still use the clips like you said but instead of using silicone to gill up the inside get your self some foam ear plugs the yellow ones, use that to fill it, then use some shrink wrap to keep it secure.

The ear plus are great cause they can compress really nicely and then over a short period of time they will decompress into the shape of the inside, while keeping everything separated and snug ..

Actually WD is right I hate it when he does that. But my RX7 injectors had the same clips. I went to the junk yard walked up to virtually every car and came home with pockets full of clips. You would be surprised how many differ types of injector clips there is out there.

Wow thanks, that saves my engine bay from looking 'custom', and keeps my injectors nice and clean for the resell later down the line. Gona call up some junk yards and find a doner!

Well actually, you might have to go there. Cause if your junk yards are anything like the ones here. The people usually don't know their *** from their face.

And there's also very little difference between the two at times...
