so im on the middle of my plenum pull to replace all the stuff i ordered and posted pics of in the general side. im not changing the first gen pintle style injectors, as they are working fine and only have low miles. there are the light brown caps over the bottom of the injector where the fuel sprays out. i cracked one trying to get the injectors out to do the o rings. i cant find anything in the service info at work.
maybe some one here has some advice...i think coz carries them...im thinking the have something to do with the spray pattern?

The plastic piece really only protects the pintle in the injector. Has zero to do with spray pattern. You can run it without it as I have done in different vehicles, but the chance of it failing sooner is a little higher. Most autoparts stores have the injector caps in the Help! section, they can be a PIA to install if you do not warm them up a little bit.

what do you guys use to pop the injectors out of the rails. mine are really tight, im trying to put a 10mm socket over the pintle end and push it out the other end in the vice but very slowly and gently but no luck so far. i bought both o rings and if im this far in im not going to skip on them.

Some have had luck with the vise trick or even pulling them out with pliers while the rail is still on the car. I have broken more things. The best method I found was getting a socket to cover the lower half, but small enough so it will go through the rail when it pops out and smack the socket with a hammer. Brace the rail between two pieces of wood so the injector has room to pop out. I normally only break the pintle cover, but it was the only way I could get them out.

I've seen people use the socket small enough to fit through, then two more large deep sockets on the other side, with a block across them, and a C-clamp to squeeze it all together.
