Injector o-ring question

I posted this in the Infiniti General Forum this morning but am not getting any response so I'll bring it over here and ask the question.

On my 94 Q45- I just replaced #1 injector and when I pulled out the bad injector the plastic tip was missing and the small o-ring was left inside the fuel port (I was able to fish it out OK). The new injector does have a plastic tip. My question is- does the small o-ring install on the plastic tip or just behind it? This is my first time replacing an injector so I have nothing to compare it to. The Q ran a little rough for the first few minutes on the test drive but seems OK now. I just want to make sure I've installed it in the right location before driving again.

I'm not getting any responses so I thought I should post a pic.

This is the style of injector I removed and replaced but mine was missing the plastic pintle cap. It is not the same injector shown in the FSM which has a rounded cap. My question is- Does the small o-ring mount on the pintle shaft, labeled #1 (which is where I put it), or the pintle cap, labeled #2? It fits snug in both places, but since the one I removed did not have the pintle cap and the o-ring was in the fuel port I'm not sure which is the proper location.

That was the logical place to put it but it also fit snugly on the pintle cap. She ran so crummy for the first few minutes of the test drive so I just wanted to make sure I'd put it in the right place.
