how big of a deal is injector timing? I know the stock 370's have a lag time of like .51 mil sec. and the Tomei 555's are .71 mil sec.
My main issue is that my car runs like crap anywhere off boost. I'm talkin it gets 80 miles to a tank of gas! I swaped in a Z32 MAF, the Tomei 555's and a Greddy Emanage. I set the Emanage up for a Z32 MAF (NS-HW-2) and plugged in the correction for 555cc injectors. But no matter how much I lean it out I can't get the thing to run right. It smokes like a 2 stroke and is rougher than a 45 year old female trucker who's into leather and spikes. The MAF is wired up right (basically color match the wires and chassis ground the orange one). Steady state crusing I'm getting a MAF voltage of 2.65 (if I remember correctly but I'll datalog later today again to see what's really there). I've also got my fuel maps leaned out an extra 25% past the 555cc correction and it still runs rich. And on the advise of another member I also tried running the car with the ignition timing greatly advanced and then retarded, that didn't help at all either.
The injectors didn't need re-wired, since I paid extra to get somthin that would drop right in, so all I can think of is the difference in lag time. I'm not really quite sure what that would do to the opperation of the motor, so if sombody has a more intimate understanding of that than me please let me know. Because in my mind I can't picture how having the injector open a quarter of a millionth of a second later could make a difference like that and cause the car to get that much extra gas.
