how big of a deal is injector timing? I know the stock 370's have a lag time of like .51 mil sec. and the Tomei 555's are .71 mil sec.

My main issue is that my car runs like crap anywhere off boost. I'm talkin it gets 80 miles to a tank of gas! I swaped in a Z32 MAF, the Tomei 555's and a Greddy Emanage. I set the Emanage up for a Z32 MAF (NS-HW-2) and plugged in the correction for 555cc injectors. But no matter how much I lean it out I can't get the thing to run right. It smokes like a 2 stroke and is rougher than a 45 year old female trucker who's into leather and spikes. The MAF is wired up right (basically color match the wires and chassis ground the orange one). Steady state crusing I'm getting a MAF voltage of 2.65 (if I remember correctly but I'll datalog later today again to see what's really there). I've also got my fuel maps leaned out an extra 25% past the 555cc correction and it still runs rich. And on the advise of another member I also tried running the car with the ignition timing greatly advanced and then retarded, that didn't help at all either.

The injectors didn't need re-wired, since I paid extra to get somthin that would drop right in, so all I can think of is the difference in lag time. I'm not really quite sure what that would do to the opperation of the motor, so if sombody has a more intimate understanding of that than me please let me know. Because in my mind I can't picture how having the injector open a quarter of a millionth of a second later could make a difference like that and cause the car to get that much extra gas.

Thanks,

What setting do you have for the injectors? Whats the fuel pressure? What fuel pump? Whats your basic setup such as 02 sensor and s***? You might want to see how it runs if you take the maf and injectors out but keep the e manage and set the parameters to the 370s and stock maf. If it still runs like s*** there would have to be something in the emanage or the incorrect wiring somewhere. Did you do it yourself? Do you have the right options set for the motor etc? As soon as you did all of this(assuming they were all done at the same time)thats when your problems started?

the issue was a torn lower O ring on one of the injectors, it was just dumping gas....

I guess it must have, they looked fine when I stuck them in, and I worked them in easy enough (didn't force it). Just one of those dumb little things you find out about after ripping your hair out looking at all the 'not obvious' answers.

ha.. had the same thing happen to me installing my 550 sards. had a ripped bottom o'ring. didn't fire ever, and would only turn over like 2 times and nothing. had to wait a min or two before i could turn it over again. but the rip was big enough it was filling one of the cylinders up with gas and it couldn't compress it. after a min or two the gas would drain past the piston rings enough and i could turn it over again. but in a half hour tring to get it to start i ended up with about 2-4 gallons of gas in my engine, intake mani, tb, and intercooler. How fun huh.. good thing it never sparked and ignited. my sr wouldn't be here. eh
