while looking through scottsdale online, i noticed different color injectors for 94-96. colors being black and white. any reason why? also there seems to be different part numbers for insulators upper and lower, between yrs 94 and 96. i am doing a topend rebuild on a 92 and decided to do the injector upgrade. i have the 94 injectors and fuel rail with harness attached. injectors are being sent for cleaning. i guess back to the yard for the vin number.

I'm not sure on the insulators. Are you talking about the o-rings, or rubber parts that sit between the top of the injector and the cap that bolts to the rail?

The color code refers to pattern and flow matching that was done at the factory. I'm pretty much of the opinion that it doesn't matter in the aftermarket unless you're replacing a full bank or all eight injectors, since the ECU will make adjustments anyhow. It was just an effort to get all 8 injectors to match each other as closely as possible.

The upper o-ring is the same for both style injectors. The lower o-ring is different 90-93 (3/8" diameter) vs. 94-96 (1/4" diameter). If you're sending them to be cleaned they should come back with new o-rings installed but it's smart to have a couple of spares.

I would be surprised to learn that the upper o-rings are different between the 94 and 96 as well. I always thought the breakdown was 90-93 and 94-96.

well when i looked them up on scottsdale website, it show a difference for 90-93,94, and 95-96. so theres something different about 94. unfortunately, i dont have that fast program to compare part numbers.

Here's the part #'s. I've replaced injectors on a 90Q and a 94Q and the top o-ring is the same. I'm not sure why the P/N difference for the 94 only. For electrical sensors, relays, etc. when the manufacturer changes the p/n will change a digit or 2. Maybe that's what happened here. There's a few 94-96 pintle caps from Deatchwerks at the bottom.
