Can someone tell me what the check is on the injectors and coil packs. I'm pretty good with a meter but not without a book to go by.

p.s. which coil pack is known for going bad?

Thanks guys.

The coil packs don't go bad very often, and no specific one of the 6 in particular. Do you have a specific problem?

Injectors need to measure (within reason) 10 ~ 14 ohms. Best to check them at the ECU through the harness first as that will also verify the harness has no issues, and the connectors have good contact. If all tests good at that point, no need to go further on that test. If not, next pull the injector connectors off any that read bad, make sure the contacts on the injector and plug are perfectly clean and then test the injector. Corrosion is a common issue if the injector tests ok.

Coil packs: primary = 0.7 ohms, secondary = 8 Kohms

I posted this question in Nissan Mechanic forumn because of a miss and was told to check the coil packs and that the one in question was around the upper radiator hose.

Thanks for the link

Ohhh....you mean the PTU. That is the device that fires the coil packs. It is located passenger side under the throttle body hose.Have a look and see if yours is silver or black. The silver one hada recall on it as they got hot and prematurely burned out. Yours sounds like it's probably still working though if the car runs.A common miss problem is the connectors get corroded. There are 2 connecors on the PTU and that sub-harness has 2 more connectors very near the unit that connect to the main harness. When I first got my '90 those 2 were so bad when I took it apart the connectors literally disintegrated and the terminals where so corroded it was amazing any signal got through.*Also check your CAS plug

Yeah, I have a black one. Mine does have a piece of electrical tape around it and it just rests on the motor. I've noticed it before but didn't realize what it was til I looked at the diagrams on the link to twin tubo's manual website. I'll definitely check that out since it can bounce around. Thanks

That's not good at all. Aside from it bouncing around and dying a death from vibration, I think the mount actually grounds it to the engine block through the bolts. That could be a part of your issue.
