Right now I'm in the middle of swapping in an s14 sr in to my 97.

So far my plans are to run everything stock form the intake filter, clutch, smic, ect.....pure stock set-up

The only things I have replaced are the belts and stat.

What other modifications or upgrades will be vital in the engines first initial months before the summer hits?

Do you think the stock lcutch could hold 10 psi? The only reason I keeped the stock clutch was b/c it was clean as hell. Motor set only had 29k.

During the month of MAY I will be ordering a FMIC/BOV, KOYO, FANS, and CLUTCH.

The plans for the car right now are to attended as many events with out burning a hole in pants.....from auto-x, road events, and might see some drifting during the summer months.

You should probably replace your rear main seal before the engine goes in. Its a $15 part that requires removal of the transmission/clutch, which is a headache when the engine is installed in the car.

Pretty much anything thats hard to get to with the engine in the car..I did a head gasket and valve springs..Cause its so easy to do with the engine on a stand..Few hours with of work...Like he said the rear seal..Maybe a new oil pump if you got the cash..

Also make sure your stock oil pan is completely dent free, or your low mileage motor will be a paper weight due to oil starvation. If it is even slightly dented, pound it out, by a new stock one (Enjuku carries them @ $85) or upgrade to an aftermarket one with more capacity (more cost too).

Very good info fellas........the motor/trans are already in, but when I get the clutch I'll add the rear main seal to the list. Is this a common problem on the Sr. As far as the oil pan........it is dent free, but I'M planning on buying a greddy oil pan in may....also on the list.

As far as 10psi on stock clutch....you think it will be alright. I want to ride on that til may and probably pick up an act clutch.

Will cooling be an issue on the stock ka RAD+elec fans+stock clutch fan......

You're using the stock fan + elec. ones together? Can you do that? Good elec fans will flow plenty of air so should be no need for stock one + cheapscheisst might be right about that. No, cooling should be fine even at 10psi. You can get new radiator hoses (I think Enjuku also carries these and some other sponsors) that allow you to use the DE rad with the SR. When you start upgrading in May though an aluminum radiator will be a must. If the clutch is good and you drive it nice then it should last until May, don't know though bc I've never owned an SR. Check these threads for stock/max safe boost on stock SRs with or with out mods:

If you have any other questions there are more threads out there with info on this stuff.

Your clutch will be toast in no time but that is a minor issue. If you really want to enjoy your SR, especially with an open diff, I'd invest in a clutch. The stock KA radiator will do just fine. I'd say buy a motorset. You'll get the SR radiator and fan /shroud and it'll make the swap a lot easier to visualize.

Yeah, wasn't sure about the clutch @ 10psi.
