hows the english version of Initial d? i like the japanese version but if I don't have to read subs and it's just as good as the japanese (not fast and furious like) then i'll buy the english tokyo pop version.

let me know if anyone here bought it, or saw it and how you like it? is it the same as the japanese version just english talking? are the voices almost the same?

i bought the tokyopop version. its easier that way.

so tell me: even when i choose "original" in the menu, instead of "tricked out" or some crap, i am still not getting the original? cuz it says japanese 5.1 audio, original video. are they fibbing?

the tokyopop version seems good enough for me. besides, i'm not watching it for the deep and meaningful plot and what not...i just watch it for entertainment.

yeah, but when vids are dubbed, they have to cut stuff and change stuff to make it sound right and flow right. the new english version is a joke. even the card game is a joke. one of the cards is dual tank nitrous. i cant remember seeing nitrous in the show, but i guess if its a card, then its gotta be in there.

Well most dubs as of late try to match original lip flaps and not cut and extend or shorten it. I find most new dubs to be very enjoyable, especially if you dont feel like reading. THough when I get the time I like to watch both versions. **** tokyo pop for the "tricked out" version.

I am not sure if they edited the original or not. I know they removed the stuff about Mogi and her Papa, well changed the way it is perceived.

If you think buying the TP version is easier you are very misinformed. I would get the Hong Kong version for 30 dollars for 1st stage (which is all 26 episodes) the next season is less expspensive and so on regarding the movies. Also the HK version are region 0, so they will play on xbox, ps2, gc (if you have the panasonic version).

Since the TP are 20+ dollars for just three episodes (you do the math). It is your money, and like I said I am not sure about the editing of the Japanese audio verison or not. Just trying to save you some money.

no, its the voices dubbed over by american actors. like stuff you would see on Cartoon network. im not a fan of dubbed movies cause dubbing takes a lot away.

I would recommend this site

http://www.animeniacs.com/, sorry this site no longer carries, but still good for anime.

This site is from Hong Kong, I have ordered from them before, and they even carry the TP versions.

thanks for the links.

i would never EVER watch it dubbed. i would always watch it with the original audio, and english subtitles. why the big fuss over who dubbs best or whatever? dubbing in and of itself ruins it.

Just a bit. I think people get to anal when it comes to anime. Its cartoons for crying out loud. They hate for no real reason. I can understand if A. the dubb is horrible. Or B. the dub completly changes the story.

yeah, i have some dubbed movies and its just easier that way. some series i'd rather watch subbtitled, but others i dont mind it they're dubbed. Manga does a good job at dubbing their movies. hence, my dubbed videos are Manga videos.

To me it really doesnt matter. Whatever I can get of hold of on DC++, or the cheapest.

The only time that dubbing bothers me is in real movies especially HK movies dubbed in Mandarin, when I already know what their Cantonese voices sound like.

They totally raped the series. As is noticable I am a dub fan but damn WTF is wrong with them. They started out so well. GTO was great. Now they are just going down hill.

I can't imagine GTO dubbed over. Once you watch the fansubs it just hard to imagine his voice any other way.

Have you seen any of the fansub versions of GTO? If so did TP change the music in the anime?

No I didn't get a chance to see them. They brought out GTO pretty quickly though if I remember correctly. I got all 10 damn dvds and as far as I know the music is all the same. The reason the messed with Initial D is because they are money hungry and care nothing for the anime industry. Tokyo pop puts out many an import car dvd. Most seem to be rice rice rice. I'll have to check on GTO though. They got david lucas for the dub and he is one of my favorite voice actors so I really enjoyed the dub.

I prefer mokori to nookie, but sometimes dubs aren't bad at all, it just depends on the company and the actors.

For the longest time I wondered if Kenshin was voiced by a woman, I do like his dubbed voice a little better but he doesn't say oro all the time, it's seems like it's missing something because of that:(

Yeah Kenshin and Inuyasha seemed to be done really well. I just wish they would come on again, now they have FLCL which is off the wall but I enjoy it.

I am in the process of dling Inuyasha and looking for Kenshin.

Can't go to link, at work right now. Is it for the HK version? I can't pay 20 dollars a DVD, for only 3 episodes per disc. The car has priority right now as far as budget is concerned.
