This is because Takumi has not yet learned about engines. The reason he though the tack made it faster is because the old tach redline was at 7 or 8 I think, and the new motor that his dad put in had a redline of 11,000 (I think, don't remember). Thus, Since Takumi would never shift past redline, like any "true racer", he never got the full potential out of the engine until he got the new racing tachometer. (He was shifting before the engine reached MAX horsepower)Hope that cleared it up-Kev
Yes it clears things up, but didn't he blow an engine vs the evo (or was this showing what MIGHT happen?) and then got the racing 1.6 engine (and came back to the evo) or did he have that all along? sorry 3rd stage is the first initial d and only one i ever saw.
And about shifting past redline, I thought I read somewhere 2 240sx's drag racing, one kept beating the other because it didn't shift at redline while the one loosing did. The responces to the thread were you shouldnt shift the ka24de at or past redline because it's power isn't there. This I can understand is true stock, but after upgrading my car with headers, exhaust and intake all the power seems in the upper rpm. Should I shift at redline now? I got gtech so I know the only way to findout is to go see what yeilds quicker times
