Wrong. You can turn off the headlights in all three versions by pushing and holding start.
In Version 1, the FD is bar non the best car for every track. Rev the engine all the way and shift straight to third for a speed boost. It's a glitch in the game.
The best car in Version 2 goes to the DC2 (Integra). Yeah, it's a load of **** and everyone whores the car, but what can you expect; the game is sponsored by Honda.
Version 3 is more balanced, and different cars are good on different tracks. I haven't really played version three much besides knowing that my FD does decently on most tracks.
Special Stage is the PS2 game. Have fun playing it if you don't know the basics of reading Japanese. In my opinion, it is the best of all the games. I have it on my PS2 through HDLoader. You get more tracks than the other games (like REAL USUI!!), and you get story mode which actually puts you in Takumi's position and you go through the races exactly as in the anime all the way up to Bunta.
It's too bad the 240sx sucks in Initial D. If you must drive one, get the SilEighty as it's the only remotely good car of the bunch.
I'm currently playing Kaido Battle 2: Chain Reaction. It features the same tracks from ID (Akina/Akagi/Iro/etc), a ****load of cars, and fun physics. They're more realistic than ID but still far from lifelike. Also, the game looks amazing - the best graphics I've seen in a racer besides GT4 screenshots. Oh, this is Japan only as well. However, the menus are all in English.
