Inhibitor Switch

anyone know what the inhibitor switch is??? my ecu threw out code 111 which is the inhibitor switch.

it is the dial switch on the side of the transmission that tells the TCM which gear you have put the trans in, and it also has a switch in it to allow the car to start when its in park or neutral.

do i need to worry about this?? does it affect engine performance?? everytime i turn the ecu to mode 2 then back to mode 1 the CEL goes off. but when i drive the car around the CEL comes up again. i hate having the CEL on!!! is there a way to erase this code permantely??

if you have a service manual, follow the adjustment proceedure in the AT section for the inhibitor switch. It may just be slightly out of adjustment.
