All,

Just got done installing my INJEN intake. On all accounts it's great. Here's a view of it:

But, I pulled a bonehead during the install, didn't seat the Airflow Meter Coupling well and it basically lit up the VDC, SLIP and Service Engine Soon lights. Re-traced my footsteps, re-seated the plug: Result: VDC and SLIP go off, but Service Engine Soon light stays on. Any ides on how to get it off?

Any help much appreciated. I seem to recall that this was part of another discussion, couldn't find it, so a pointer is as good as an answer.

Thanks in advance,-- Windhaven

if the battery disconnect doesnt help you, you could always pick up an OBD II pocket scanner from like autozone or any place like that and erase the code that way. pocket scanners usually cost between 30-50 bucks and they will help you in the long run with any kind of install like this that will throw engine codes you need to get rid of. Ive owned mine for a couple years now. Has helped me with everything from exhaust O2 sensors, to knock sensors, to a full turbo system install on my spyder.

Generic OBDII scan tools can't communicate with the new Altimas with the push-button start. They will throw all sorts of funky BCM codes, I had an Enterprise Rent-a-Car come in today with 12 codes. ONLY the Consult III will communicate with it.

If after disconnecting the battery and the lights don't turn off, just drive it for 50-100 miles and most times the comp will adjust itself.

Every diagnostic in the Nissan Factory Shop Manual gives procedures for using a "GST" (generic scan tool) as an alternative to the Consult III. Don't you have to look at the shop manual to be service tech?

Hey All,

The battery disconnect did the trick. Thanks to all for the help. I encountered the Auto-Up window issue, and reset according to the instrucions on the other thread. All looks to be back to normal.

On a related note, I was talking to a buddy, who has been a long-time modder of Mustangs. When I asked him his thoughts on this subject he ask me if I had disconnected the battery also. But, not for the safety factor, rather for the ECM reset factor. That triggered my memory about the other discussion on to disconnect or not during install.

My buddy's point was that afer installing anything that has an air, exhaust or such sensor, the disconnect of the battery resets the ECM (Just like this light issue) and you're back to ground zero on the ECM adjusting itself to reflect the changes.

Not sure if the A/C works the same way, but it sort of gave me an inkling that the suggestion from INJEN to disconnect may not be all safety oriented.

Hope this helps, -- Wind

Myself, and a few others did the install without disconnecting. I had no issues with any dummy lights. I just made sure everything was installed correctly before starting up the engine. The ECU will automatically adjust to the increase in air volume.
