Besides GPS and Map updates are there any firmware updates for us prior Q70 guys regarding the infotainment? I saw a Q70 and it has a newer black glass graphic for the screens, I believe a better Bluetooth driver because call quality was way better. The media was Bluetooth but showed album art. ETC

Any word on updates or even how to update would be appreciated

I leave with these

1) the first link you provided looks like the Tesla style Android screens that are beginning to pop up everywhere
2) the second link looks similar to the Grom unit Ilya is using in his Y51 currently.

The biggest difference between the two is that Tesla style screen completely replaces the stock Infiniti software and uses a slightly bigger screen whereas the Grom unit retains the stock software and uses the factory screen.

Tesla style screen is not an option for us as the a/c vents are in the way.

The 1st link is actually pretty cool. It just has a different bezel and larger screen than our OEM unit. It is more forward too, which is my biggest gripe with the GROM. Infiniti didn't design our cockpit for the driver to be touching the screen so much...so whoever created that bezel/screen combo took that into the equation and to fit the 10.25" screen made it closer to the driver. It likely would work just as well...however, hard to tell from that page what the software is.

I think they're all running Android 8.1 at this point

I was referring to the system that runs the HVAC, etc. Per the FB comments...all of the factory stuff is still available. I kind of want to test this unit now lol...but don't have $850 to spend lol.

That wider screen isn't the true "tesla" style. There are many tesla style screens for cars where it is the large vertical screen like the Model S has. They just came out with one for the G37 but since their a/c vents are off to the side, they were able to do the Tesla style screen. Since we have a/c vents in the middle we cant get that large vertical screen.

Are you referring to the 10.25" screen on that hong kong website here http://blog.naver.com/PostView.nhn?blog ... 1457738014?

I was going to buy the GROM unit in your other thread until I seen this. Is this unit actually for sale somewhere outside of a little car shop in China?

I wish there was more information about that unit. What is the sound quality. Are the factory screens still available to see? Does XM still work?

I can't speak to if the oem software works (though I'm leaning towards it not working) but from what I've read regarding similar systems it implies that XM does not work and it order for it to do so would require you downloading the app from the Play Store.
