You Canadians may have noticed that the dealerships haven't gotten any new Versas for the past month or so... well my dealership just told me today that it was because the port/compound in Vancouver where all new Versas come from was on strike for the past month! But they told me that the strike ended yesterday, so the Versas should be moving once again. That's good news, because I was getting worried when my Versa (I do have a VIN) wasn't coming!

Hmmm... that might explain why my Versa has been showing in transit for 3 weeks now. Thanks for the info!

I heard that the Versa was railed across North America as it is built in Mexico. The port strike should have effected cars coming from Asia

Well the Versa that I ordered is in Vancouver, and it's been delayed for 2 weeks because of the strike.

Funny, all I can find on a strike in Vancouver is a container trucker strike, which would not affect the Versa as it specifically says that rail freight is still moving through unaffected.

Perhaps local deliveries of V's to Vancouver would be affected by this, but not Ontario or Manitoba or Quebec...

I ordered mine back on Sept 14th and called the dealer as to what the anticipated arrival date should be. He mentioned the strike out west and the effect was that containers had been unloaded in other ports along the west coast and then shipped across country via the rail system. This ended up putting extra pressure on the rail system with not enough freight space available.Well my car is built and its in shipping mode another 2 to 3 weeks before I pick it up.

It's possible that I misunderstood what/who the dealer said was on strike... all I know is that there was a strike in Vancouver that froze our Versas.

I agree, I thought the V was being railed for long distances and trucked for shorter distances. Like down here in Texas. It may be railed everywhere.

I live in NE Florida and my Versa came to Mayport Florida via container ship. My windshield still had the sticker showing the vessel name (I can't remember now) and the container number it was assigned when I first saw my V before PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection). I missed watching my Versa roll off the truck by 20 minutes. There was that white plastic sheeting all over the V and I inspected the car before my dealership did.

Car carriers (trucks) take them from Mayport to various dealerships in Nissan's southeast region. Maybe to other regions as well.

Same, though I hadn't come with the intention of getting that one specificially, but I figured, why not, its in stock, mostly what I want, and as new as I can get! I had the car reserved for me before the car was even added to the dealers stock.

I got the SL w/ CVT and Tech package, Magnetic Grey. I originally wanted Sapphire Blue, but they said that the wait would be a couple of months, and I still maybe wouldn't get my color. They did an inventory check across Canada and found the Magnetic Grey one in Vancouver, so I decided to get that. They said 2-3 weeks almost 3 weeks ago, but just this past weekend I learned about the strike, so it's probably going to be another week. I got it at Crown Nissan, at the Waverly Auto Mall.
