Okay, I searched the site if anyone has posted or discussed the big brake kit from Stillen and I did not find any. I have been searching for a big brake for my 240 and decided to get the Stillen if my wheels can clear the calipers and rotors.

Has anyone installed this brake in their 240? I have a 97 240 with 17x7 Kosei K1 TS, offset is 36. Is it going to fit without a problem? I don't want to put spacers if possible.

Here are what I think are the advantages of Stillen over some other brakes that I like:1. It is lighter than 30mm 300zx because it is made of alum. alloy? Correct me if i'm wrong, please.2. it's not as expensive as brembo and almost the same price as Rotora( i wanted to get Rotora before but I heard peple say that it is not good).3. the kit comes with every parts needed and this saves me time (if going the 300zx upgrade route). i know pdm-racing sells 300zx tt upgrade kit for about $1200 but I think they only sell a 4-lug rotor with it.

If the assumptions above are wrong, please correct. Also, I was afraid to ask this question because I know that Stillen has a good reputation in racing. In addition to this, I also know that they do quality control and other stuff(gov't certifcation, safety, etc.). Stillen's website mentions about Stillen brakes in WRC, Nascar, etc. but (here's my question/questions now) has the 240sx brake upgrade the same quality as those? Anyone knows who are using this brake(240 brke) in their race car.

FYI: I am not a racer but I do want a good brake for my car. BTW, this is my second post and the people who replied to my wheel questions helped me a lot. thanks.

which kit are you looking at? as far as i know, stillen doesn't make any brake upgrades, they just resell other companies products.

if you are refering to a z32 stock system, there are aluminum and iron calipers, so the stillen wouldn't be any lighter than stock. the rotors PDM sells may be redrilled for four lug, but they would still work on five lug.

First, why do you need so much braking power? Are you doing trak days and fining that your stock brakes suck?

Have you ever driven an S13/S14 with Z32 brakes?

Those Stillen/AP Racing brakes are great, but overkill for a street car. If your car is track only and has 400rwhp...then OK. But for any street car, or even one used for auto-x or HPDE's (track days)...Z32 brakes with good pads are PLENTY.

Aluminum 30mm Z32 calipers can be had for ~$100 each...

Good slotted rotors can be had for about the same (less than $100/each)...

So your at 400 for the hardware...then add bad-*** pads (Hawks, Carbotech, whatever) for another $100...and some stainless lines from "SPL Parts" you'l have more brake than you'll ever need for $550-600.

One of the 240sx.org sponsors has the StopTech stage 2 brake upgrade kit for $529. I found it last night but I forgot which site. The kit comes with front and rear rotors(4 rotors), all stainless steel brake lines, and all pads for front and rear.

BTW, the cheapest I could find for 300zz caliper online is ~$200 each (minus core). One of the sponsors has $635 for 300zx 26 mm which comes with brake lines, rotors and pads.

I planned to get the StopTech stage 2 upgrade but I was also thinking of upgrading my engine(power) in about a year that I might need a good brake. My plan is to have an N/A engine that can produce at least 200HP and can pass smog. I am still researching on how to do this and also saving for the $$$ I need.--Leon

good luck, you'll be the first. if that's all you're going to have and just drive it on the street, you'll be fine with good pads and stainless lines on the stock system. even the z32 setup would be more than enough.

you have to get really serious to surpass the abilities of the z32 system with good pads.

I purchased 2 Z32 30mm Alum. brake calipers, rotors, SS lines, and pads for around $350 off of someone who posted in the classified ad. I was originally looking into that Stage 2 brake upgrade, but it didn't seem worth it to me. Just look on the classifieds or ebay, save yourself some money, and like the other guys were saying, the stillen kits is kinda overkill for your application. All together, I will end up spending $450 for the brake upgrade on my car, not bad for what you get out of it.

Plus, I got one of those caliper DIY paint kits and they look AWESOME. And it was only like $20.
