I've been searcing, but haven't brought up much. I am looking for info for swapping in a ka24e into a 521. I recently picked up a '71 521 pickup shell. I dont mind the L series at all (I love L series engines actually) but the L20 I have in my possession is going into a 510 project, and my L16 is already in my brother's wagon. That only leaves my spare ka24e :D. Any info would be good.

I've already figured that I am going to need to modify the oil pan, just like a ka into a 510. My concern lies mostly in clearence and modifying to clear moving parts and such. Thanks in advance.

Not sure on fitting a KA into it but congrats on picking up the 521, I'd love to see some pics of it.

I need to get it home first :D, lol. Hopefully some pics tomorrow. I am having a hell of a time tracking down kingpins for it, lol. Body is pretty straight, paint is tired. I'm excited though :D.

I've never had a 521, my friend Patrick has a '71. I've worked on 510's since before I've had s13's, and when my gf and I decided to get a truck, I wanted a 521 enough to argue with her for a few hours to get it :D, lol (she wanted an s10 :P )

Good thing you didn't get a s10.....cause the 521 definitely has that "WTFIT" to it.

Ohtay... I promise pics tomorrow!! I bought another 521 with a l20, nice weber, and a datsun camper rear end/suspension on it (for $200 :D ). Only problem is there is alot of rust on the cab . So I decided to just go with the l20 since that's kind of what I wanted anyway, and it's got that nice new carb that would otherwise go to waste. So now I am just going to frankenstein a decently straight 521 together out of the two I accumulated this past week, lol. All I need is a tranny now and I'm all set (looking for a s30 5spd tranny btw if anyone knows of one, otherwise I'll just put in another 4spd :D)

lol. My brother saw his '69 510 wagon sitting in the alley behind a speaker shop. Asked the owner about it and picked it up for $150 :D. No rust anywhere and decent interior. Most people dont realize there is a group of people who are into these things :D.

I am going to be keeping all the good parts I have, but I know a guy who has a very nice parts truck if you want me to get you his number, lives in Yelm Washingon.

ps: I checked the title today and it is apparently a '71 not a '69 like I previously mentioned.

Here they are, as promised, this is the one that is going to get the new cab. Prolly going to just be flat black for now, 4" lowering blocks, and then I might take a leaf or two also. I took a few pics of the rust, you can see why the cab needs to go :P.

lol, you dont have to lie :D. It might look good when I get the new cab on :D. I started it up just a few minutes ago. The L20 runs like a top!! The carb is a little out of adj, and the tranny is stuck in third but it still runs great. Just needs that tranny to drive, but needs a cab to look good :D.

Got my shell today. It needs a bit of work, but the cab is alot better then mine by far!! The bed seems to be in alot worse shape then mine, but I am thinking I will run it for the time being, and start shaving/fixing the little things wrong with the straighter bed in the mean time :D (goodbye cargo hooks). But yeah, If all goes according to plan this should be a great running and driving truck in a few days! ( - a windshield that is )

Needs a little tlc in the front, I have a straight driver's fender, and all my grille pieces are good on my blue truck, so I think I have everything covered except for the sheet metal dam below the bumper.

The floor pan has some surface rust, but nothing all the way through, I am planning on running it for now, and welding in some new sheetmetal when I get more time and resources.

I think I have too many datsun's in my driveway right now ...

My friend gave me this Nardi woodgrain wheel today too :D, so after a little refinish/laquer job this'll be going in the pickup also :D.

Well, that's it, next pics will be after I get it running :D.
