I never hear much about this engine. I guess its because people would rather have a 2 liter 4cylinder than a 2 liter 6 cylinder. I'm interested in this engine. Can someone just give me specs and stuff on this engine? Anything you know I would apprecite. Pros/cons to this engine, etc etc. This is a pretty dead section of NICO, so I dont expect much of a responce, but it never hurts to try. Thanks!

you probably know just as much as i do, its a 2.o liter straight 6, i believe its about 1oo lbs heavier than the SR2odet, iron block, aluminum head, i believe compressoin is about 8.5:1, the turbo is small, but effecient from what i hear, this motor has potential, but between being so old (good luck on parts) and the availablity of the SR, and now also the rb25, the old 2o's arent getting too much attention, try PM'ing TMS, im sure he would tell you everythin you wanted to know and more

The RB20 seems to be less poplular now days than the RB25 because of two things. One is, the RB25 has been proven to fit into an S13/S14 with nearly the same ease as the RB20. So why use the smaller one? ya know?

The other main thing is the fact that the RB20DET usually comes from the R32, where as the RB25DET can come from the R33 or even R34, with less miles on them.

Pretty much, the engine is very similar to the RB25DET, but with just smaller displacement. Still a very stout motor. And like nlzmo said, I'm sure TMS can chime in and answer more questions, as he is an R32 finatic.

Thanks guys. All I knew about the motor was it was a 2.0 liter I6 w/ 210 horses to the crank, and that it came in R32's and some R33's. I found an R33 front clip w/ the RB20 for like 1200 bucks from Venus Auto. I dont know mileage or anything. That is a good point about them, they are older, so more mileage, etc. Hmm. I would really like to have one though.

The RB20 comes in the R33, but not the RB20DET. I believe the only RB20 in the R33 is the RB20E, in the base model.

Are they any big disadvantages for the RB20? i think one good reason the RB20 has over the Rb25 is the price. Clips for RB25s are kinda high now. I dont know how much they are going for but i hear around 3.5k or around that neighberhood. Also for modest power lets say around 350whp what kinda mods are needed.

I heard the RB20 also has higher compression, so raising boost withouth adding a new headgasket or pistons could be dangerous, is this true for RB20 or 25s?
