I can't really show you a step-by-step in pictures or anything since I didn't take any pics during the installation. I will help you out through the process if you need help. I have installed quite a few remote starters on various vehicles and have been through the paces. I am not extremely familiar with the QX4 but it's almost always exactly the same as the Pathfinder.
Here are a few tips which should help you a LOT:
1. I would set aside at least two full days (if not more) for actual installation. During the installation, the car will likely not be drivable since you have to cut the key cylinder harness and NATS immobilizer (or whatever immobilizer Infiniti uses).
2. Get a good soldering iron. This will be your best friend during the install. Get a quality soldering iron and some quality solder. You will also want to pick up some heat shrink sleeves as they will be invaluable during the install.
3. A multimeter/voltmeter is a MUST! You definitely need a multimeter for the install as you will need to test out almost every wire you connect to make sure you are connecting the right wire. You should always test out each wire multiple times to eliminate false reads.
4. A good work light is essential. It's best to get a nice light which has hanging hooks on it, you will be working mostly under the driver side knee trim panel. You will work mostly with the ECM/Key Cylinder/SECU/TCM/Immobilizer. I hooked my work light onto the steering wheel for 95% of the install and it was perfect.
5. Before starting, you want to find a good location for the remote start brain to mount. Make sure to find a location that has enough room so that the high gauge wires don't get pinched at the connector. If the remote starter is also an alarm system and has a built-in shock sensor it cannot be mounted on any sturdy metal or brace, it has to be "loosely mounted" to have the highest sensitivity. I have mine Velcroed to the rear floor vent ducting under the stereo head unit.
6. Make sure you have all necessary parts ready for the installation. Your vehicle will probably need an immobilizer bypass, make sure you find the correct one and flash it if necessary (if it is a software-based bypass) BEFORE you begin the install. Also, it's always good to have a few relays laying around. They're cheap and they have MANY uses, you will most likely need three for the install.
7. Make sure you have a factory service manual handy. You can get one for free and it's absolutely necessary. The wiring assignments and diagrams and locations and testing values are all given in the manual. You will definitely need one to install the remote starter. It's also good to double check the remote starter manufacturers wire colors/locations before actually cutting/tapping anything.
8. Plan everything before install! I cannot stress this enough. You need to spend several days planning the install, researching your vehicles wiring, determining necessary parts and getting any other parts. I typed up an organized table which referenced every wire in the remote starters harnesses and then had my vehicles wire color/location/testing values next to that. It made the install go much smoother. You will want to read the installation manual for your remote starter very thoroughly. You need to become extremely familiar with the system and how it works. A great resource for installing remote starters/alarm systems is
http://www.the12volt.com . They have great forums and informative tutorials, I suggest surfing the site for a little and maybe read a couple of their tutorials, they have some great relay tutorials also.
To install a remote starter/alarm system you will need a good knowledge of a vehicles electronics. Only attempt to install yourself if you really think you know what you're doing. The install may seem huge and daunting at first, but it's fairly easy once you actually get started. If you have ANY questions, even vehicle-specific ones, please ask. I would be more than happy to help you with this install.
